Hi, my horse is a 14.2hh Arabian. I have been feeding him a handful of chaff, half a scoop of pony nuts, and half a scoop of calm and condition. However he has become very energetic since I have been feeding him this. So I was wondering what everybody else feeds their horses?

He hasn't been ridden very much this winter but I want to keep him on feed as he drops weight rather quickly without feed. He is stabled at night and out in the paddock during the day!

Any suggestions are appreciated :)

What chaff and what pony nuts are you feeding ? as most contain molasses which a lot of horses cannot tolerate especially hotbloods, I have two Arabs neither can be fed molasses or alfalfa it sends them nuts and mine are quite laid back generally, mine are fed graze on green which is just chopped grass nothing added, fast fibre Allen and page and micronised linseed, mine are quite good doers so how much I feed will vary through the year and how they look.

also wanted to add how much hay are you feeding I find increasing hay first puts on weight better than any hard feed and then less chance of them getting too fizzy.
