My Dressage horse is 19 this year and has always been a good doer and just been fed regular chaff and cheap old plain nuts. He doesnt need to any any weight, I just feel he could do with a little bit of condition. Does anyone have any suggestions re. feed? Ideally I dont want anything that is going to give him any more energy :)

Thanks

You try adding some oil to his diet? I use sunflower oil

My new forest who is a good doer is fed 3 mugs of top spec cool condition. Before I put him on this he weighed 360kg, he now weighs 366kg so hasn't put weight on but looks a completely different horse! Very good top line and fantastic muscle condition :) it's £12 a bag and used 3 bags so far.

Have swapped K from Mollichaff Herbal to Alfa-A Oil, and she is looking fab on it so far and not even half way through first bag so far. Hasn't been ridden for a few weeks so can't tell you what her ridden work is like, but her coat is looking well for this time of year.

Alternatively, you can just add some oil (vegetable or rape seed) to the diet, start off gradually introducing around a table spoon (15ml) a day, increasing it to 50ml every day as the end result. Add another table spoon every 5-7 days, so the increase is gradual.
