What should I feed a highlandxshetland. He's 16 years old and in medium work in the spring and summer and light work in autumn. He doesn't get ridden in the winter at all. He's got navacular and is prone to laminatice. He competes in the summer and autumn in cross country. What should he get given to feed???

If he is not ridden in the winter and holds his weight well then I would just give him a vit/min supplement in a tiny bit of unmollassed beet, Fast Fibre or low sugar chaff, in addition to his hay/grazing.

if not working through the winter, plenty of turnout and adlib good quality of hay. as prone to lami would suggest you steer clear of haylage. his breeding is of hardy stock so plenty of good hay will see him fine! his breeding is from the country he lives in please dont indulge him! a couple of carrots and turnip will feed his greed!

he gets chaff and speedibeet in the winter and pony nuts after hes been riding but only a little bit with some water and no bute(herbal)if he goes lame because of his navacular
