I exercise horses at a place that has no jumps. There is a whole bunch of junk that I suppose could be found to make jumps. What should I look for? I could probably find something. I need ideas to make three jumps easily. I don't want them too high. About 18 inches to jump and able to raise to 2 ft 6 if needed. If I have to buy supplies it needs to be cheap.

Long poles you can paint. Long planks of wood, cut a rectangle from each end so you've got a notch to hang it from. Buckets are good as fillers/groundlines or wings. Plastic feed bins & old dustbins do the same. Old small bales of hay/ straw. Traffic cones as wings. The barriers used by road crews are good as fillers for bigger jumps but for smaller you can put them in a wide arrow shape towards the jump so you jump the gap between them. If you want bombproofing jumps then have a search of jftds & dafthoss' recent threads. Old fence posts are generally too short for jump poles but can be put next to each other as a groundline.
Basically, anything that happens to be handy really. Main rule is that if the horse does hit the fence there's nothing to get caught in or that will splinter/ shatter easily. With any new junk I plan on jumping I also give it a good kick myself first to make sure it will fall safely & not stay caught in the wings. Old tyres are good as wings too, just stack to height.
