What to put on a receipt

I'm selling our lovely pony tomorrow, and was just wondering what to write on a reciept. I was thinking

"£xxxx received for xxxx (height, colour, age, sex). Sold as seen and tried. To include tack and wardrobe. Signature and date.."

Does that sound right? I'm a bit upset by the departure of the pony, so not got my sensible head on!
 
My mum's was a bit more in-depth than that - it also included passport and microchip numbers, buyer and seller names and addresses, and a line stating that the seller agreed that the buyer was free to sell the pony on.

Seller came up with it, we were quite impressed!
 
That sounds about right ,I usually put " in full payment for " plus payment method [cash/cheque] a brief description,seen ,tried,vetted [if it was] name, address,date.
 
if the horse has any known issues or problems that the buyer has been made aware of then I would note that as well, and also include a mention of the type of horse and the home that it is going to if relevant. For example:

"Dobbin is a young competition horse who is being sold to an experienced home. Mrs Bloggs is aware that Dobbin has been diagnosed with and is receiving medication for COPD"

Just to make sure things don't come back to bite you at a later date.
 
My son attends a TAFE course in horses and they advise that you describe the horse hands/colour/sex/ possibly age and brands/ registered name etc.

Then they advise that you add "sold as is, with all faults, if any", because you do not want the purchaser to come back at you for anything.

When I sold my last kids pony I included this sentence.
 
That is a very basic receipt - was there anything that you discussed with them such as a propensity for laminitis - dislikes hind legs being picked up, prefers to travel on the left side of the float.

A few years ago I sold a young unbroken 5yr old - he'd been with me since he was 6months old (I bought him & his mum) and had become rather difficult to work with. For some things he was a treasure - other things he was a demon possessed.

I discussed all his idiosyncracies with the purchaser and to be sure I didn't get him back again (won't bore you with the details) I included all this in the receipt.

Two years later I have not had him back. Through the grapevine I hear that he has not been the easiest to work with and this one was the reason I decided not to breed from his mum again and had her PTS.

By being very clear on his receipt about his problems I safe guarded myself from getting the horse back again.

I didn't see the rest of the replies, so just did the basic one I'd mentioned, with his passport no in the description. TBH the buyer didn't even ask for a receipt! The pony does has mild sweet itch, which they know about, and have all his hoodies and creams with his tack and wardrobe. Other than that, he is the most wonderful, honest pony that I'm sure they'll adore in no time like we did. If they did have any issues I'd rather take him back anyway, but I'm 100% certain they won't. He's a one in a million little schoolmaster who has taught my stepson everything and won it all for him! They're very lucky to have him - as we were!
 
I would also add: Dobbin is currently being fed xyz and during the winter months eats haylage due to cough (obviously if he does!!). He has been used for xyz and is sold as seen - after vetting etc etc.
