I am hoping to go BE for the first time next year so need to get myself kitted out!

Wondering what you all wear.... in particular, white or cream jods????

I'd be interested for some tips on how to look the part!

Hey i've not got anything fancy, for DR and SJ I wear cream breeches, navy jacket and white stock with Black long boots, for XC I have a white top, sports type material and wear stock and body protector. For all phases I wear skull cap and navy silk, mainly because i'm too lazy and skint to have multiple hats :D

good luck with your first season :)

im pretty much the same as kez1001 except that the the dressage and sj i wear a green/navy tweed with a navy pinstripe shirt and navy tie, i just think it looks so much smarter at novice levels. the more multifunctional stuff you can get the better - cheaper, easier and less stuff to pack!

and i think the white breeches are a big no no! go cream/beige all the way!

Just checked on the BE website and they dont allow white jods for Dressage but they do for the other phases.
If you wear a tweed jacket then its a cloured stock or tie. If you wear a black of blue jacket it is a white stock.

Hope that helps

I'm like Kez and Georgie, cream breeches (I certainly don't have the "figurine" for white ones apart from anything else!! :D) and I wear me ol' tweed jacket I've had since pony club w black silk.

For XC I wear a blue/white quarters hat silk and the same blue toggi shirt I wear under my jacket for SJ and DR. Though there are a lot of snazzy outfits that appear on the course these days so you could go to town here if you wanted to!! ;)

Most important things though are body protector of course and to check your hat fits the specifications on the BE website www.britisheventing.com and to make sure you get your hat checked and tagged at the sec's tent on arrival on your first outing (and if you ever change hats after that) . Also you will need your own number bib and a medical armband (I did not know all 3 of these last things at my first event so it was a challenging day!! :D ).

Hope this helps!!

OMG re white breeches... so those girls at my most recent event must actually have gone to the trouble of changing jods between phases to get the whities on in time for the SJ!!! :D

Thanks for the great comments. I already have a blue jacket so white stock and cream jods it is! Just need to decide on my xc colours now!

I know, white jods are a nightmare. One second on and they are already filthy!!!
Treehouse sporting colours are great and not overpriced for xc colours!:)

Good advice from the others. I wear cream breeches with white shirt/stock and black jacket for DR/SJ. Skull cap and black silk and black gloves also. I wear short boots and leather gaiters.

I then swap the hat silk for a coloured one for XC and have a long sleeved wick-dry sports top under my BP.

Ooooh... picking colours! :D What colour is your horse? My advice is to pick something unusual and bright that will stand out so it's easier to find yourself when scanning thumbnails on photo galleries! ;) Don't have a dark bay horse and dull navy/dark green colours... makes it harder...! :p

If ur looking for XC colours, i recommend jellybeanz.co.uk.
I get all my stuff there and my hat cover was 15pounds where as if I have got it from treehouse it would have been 38! Same design and I have two covers from jellybeanz.. one is new and one is three years old and still going strong! They can accomodate your own designs too so you can be super orginal!

I agree with FJ - best to go for standout colours! makes your pics easier to find and easier for Mr FJ to find you! :)

I have a tweed jacket with cream jods for dressage and sj.
then purple with gold stars for xc....looks great on a dark bay horses lol

plus i always find my pictures!!!

DR/SJ: tweed, treehouse event shirt (is my xc shirt but has a white bit so looks like a normal stock shirt)/cream hunting shirt when cold, navy and white spotty stock + gold stock pin, navy velvet hat, beige jods, brown boots and chaps, brown stick, brown deerksins

XC: as above, but green and pink hatsilk and obviously BP
