I am going to my first horse show and my horsey friend has told me to wear, beige jods, tall black boots, white shirt, tie, brown cane, navy hat, and brown gloves.

I have bought all this, but do not know whether or not its right.
So my navy hat has black straps not flesh, is this okay?
My shirts white but I've read that this is not alright?
and I bought a cheap blazer off ebay, as I didn't want to spend a fortune for my horse not to take to showing, or the other way around!
Anyway, I've found out the blazer is not a showing one, its green and brown tweed with a brown cord like collar, but it only has one button in the middle, and my friend (whos helping me with my showing) buttons near enough up to the top! Will this still be okay?
I'm also going to take a pair of cream chinos as a back up, as I don't want to look like an idiot being the only one wearing jods and not trousers!

Sorry its so long winded, thanks!

I am afraid you have been given some incorrect advice.
The navy hat, brown gloves and brown cane are fine.
The white shirt put it in the wash with a cheap yellow duster and you will have a nice yellow shirt which will look nicer than a white one.
Wear your cream chinos with short boots as they are more correct.
The jacket it's hard to say if it will be ok without seeing a picture.

At local shows you will see all sorts of outfits, there is bound to be someone dressed casually and someone dressed for top level showing and everything inbetween. Have you ever been to that show before? Use what you have, have fun. If you enjoy it and feel you want to change your outfit for the next time then do so, if you don't enjoy it then you won't have wasted more money on trying.

I have done the yellow duster /white shirt trick...its works a treat. Chinos would be more correct.

Also, search the internet for in-hands shows and look at photos and see what others are wearing.

If it's a local show, I wouldn't worry too as you will see all sorts.

No I have never done any showing before so it's all very new to me, I went to look at a local show last year but missed the in hand classes /: I think I will get a yellow shirt and wear my chinos :) also would it be acceptable to show my horse in a white rope halter? He's a 3 year old piebald Irish cob, and I think I'll enter him in the young stock category and in hand coloured
