Hiya,

Been out of competing for quite a while now but am off to Summerhouse on 9th March to do the prelim 4.

Not really sure what I should be wearing?
I've still got my black Pikeur show jacket, white breeches, stock, black boots and gaiters. Also got a tweed jacket that I used to wear for showing with red tie and yellow jods.

What should I be wearing? I know its unaffiliated so not particularly strict on rules but don't know what will be best.
xxxxx

personally i wear tweed for dressage but i think that is the eventer in me! most people will probably be in black/navy jackets and beige/white breeches with a stock. just make sure that you are clean and presentable and you won't look out of place :) good luck :)

Whichever fits best/is most comfortable/most suited to the weather.

Either tweed or black is fine for unaffiliated dressage.

Thanks for your quick reply. I think i'll go with my black jacket and matching bits and bobs this time just to be safe and see what everyone else is wearing xxx

I wear black jacket with long leather boots and a stock. White jods.
So long as you look smart and presentable, you will be fine. :)
Good luck!

I have always worn tweed with white shirt and tie. Beige jods and long boots. However we are talking riding club type prelim & novice.

Whatever you are comfortable with as long as neat and tidy.

I am also on a pony, not that allows for shoddy turnout.

Don't wear the yellow jods and red tie, you'll stick out like a sore thumb!

Black or navy jacket and white or beige jods will be what most people wear, so you'll be fine in yours. Tweed is also fine, and more often seen at lower levels, but you need to wear it with cream/ beige jods and a sober coloured tie (bottle green/ navy etc) if you want to wear it.

Have always felt right at home and comfortable in my tweed, cream jods and cream gloves and navy hat and toned down tie. Got a navy coat now so use that instead with a light blue stock. Never feel out of place in either outfit, but feel the navy is a little more posh ;)

Polotash depends on the show. At one we go to regularly people are often doing dressage and then going straight into a showing class so lots wear tweed and canary and no eyebrows are raised.

Rah great thread as I'm in the same situation :) will be wearing my tweed as no longer have a navy or black jacket but not sure whether to wear a stock or tie...

I compete in unaff dressage in the hampshire/surrey area and the majority tend to wear white breeches/jods, stock and black/navy or tweed jacket :-) Hope that helps!
