Probably a really stupid question but I don't compete! I'll be doing some showjumping in a few weeks - what should you wear and is there anything special that the pony should be wearing/not wearing?

Thanks

To be honest you can wear pretty much whatever you want. Obviously a hat to British Safety Standard. You can wear gaiters with your jod boots but not chaps & they must be the same colour as the boots, You must wear a show jacket unless it's hot enough for the judge to decide you don't have to (little chance of that happening at the moment). If that happens you must have a shirt with either full or half sleeves, not sleeveless.

There's a restriction on whip length which I think is 27" or 70cm. If your horse is likely to kick out at other horses then he should wear a red ribbon in his tail to warn other riders to keep clear.

I think that's about it. Good Luck when you go.
