Hi,

I am showing my friend's American Saddlebred at Moreton Morrell at the end of the month. He is a chesnut (not sure if that is relevant)

What do I need to wear for the ridden classes? I am only doing it for experience for the horse so I don't want to have to go out and spend a fortune on clothes etc!

I have got black boots and leather chaps, and a black showing jacket, and some cream jodphurs, should I wear a shirt and tie? do I need gloves?
Can I wear my normal hat with a plain black silk?

Any help would be much appreciated please!

:)

Thanks for the links, it's not a gaited class though, you have to show at walk, trot, canter and hand gallop and there is no individual show.
I don't think it is American style, this is what is says on the website:

ENGLISH TACK/HUNTER CLASSES definitions
Hunter Pleasure – traditional English tack, snaffle, Pelham or double bridle (similar to Riding Horse, Show Hunter or Show Cob
classes). To be shown at walk, trot (working), medium / extended trot, canter and hand gallop. No individual show required.

ah, well in that case, I think the clothes you mentioned should be okay!

(I hope!!)

ETA, found this:

b) Riding Classes. Saddle suits are required for all saddle seat classes. Bow ties and top hats are only appropriate for evening wear - competitors may be marked down if worn during the day. Hunt attire should be worn for hunt seat classes. All Junior exhibitors (under the age of 18) must wear a secured safety hat, with harness, conforming to the latest BHS standards at all times when mounted, or in the show ring (including showing in hand and harness).

hope that helps!
