Please place all your winter warming tips here for riding or competing or just general yard duties....

And anything that should be avoided!

Also any handy tips for things to wear whilst competing or riding to keep you warm that also happen to look good!

One thing I have learnt is always have a spare pair of gloves, wet gloves are not nice................
Cup a Soups at the yard...........
If you can bear it wear tights under your jod/breeches............. They keep you nice and warm, but ar enot bulky....

Normal gloves with disposable clear latex gloves over the top, keep you hands warm and dry.
Tights under jodhpurs.
Toggi perth coat.

Rambo chaps with a puffa coat, thermal gloves and a scarf! Rugby socks are also really good for keeping feet warm.

I am dreading winter - mud I hate it.

Woofwear neoprene gloves are fab and waterproof so you can clear ice from watertroughs without getting frostbite.

Ditto tights under everything!

I love my Ariat wellies - keep feet very warm and dry.

Heated car seats!

Seal skin socks & gloves are great. Oh, and an indoor school with heating would be amazing!!! Like the ones they have in really cold countries e.g. Sweden....! Must remember to get lottery ticket

Agree Madmare re heated car seats - pity micro technology can't be made to supply heated saddles too! I find wearing woolly tights under my joddies also helps - remember to pull the tights up high before putting joddies on else they split as you mount the horse

Aways try to wear gloves too what ever i am doing to stop fingers going white! (Age thing)

Hmmmmm....where to start......

Well lit indoor school for those cold, dark evenings.

Covered horsewalker.

Centrally heated Lehel with TV and games console for those long winter days hanging around at shows.

Attractive, competent groom to do all the hard work.

Defo Rambo chaps, I bought Ariat long boots last year, glacier something, very expensive but fantastic. Seal Skinz socks - excellent and a neck cosy rather than a scarf

a set or ornelly water proofs kepp you very warm and dry and always about 3 spare coats!! lots of layers as well and if its not to cold but wet i were PJ bottoms under my water proofs as there so warm and cosy!!

and my hunter wellys with neoprean!! umm so warm and about 3 pairs of socks to riding out in!!

Am i the only person who gets through winter in mostly a polo top and waistcoat? Well except for really freezing days - hate all those layers, can't move or do anything in them.

My only nod to winter is some full neoprene chaps, but they will only get an airing 4-5 times

lots of layers, gloves, balm for lips and hands, hate getting chapped lips.dry hands, headband to keep long hair out fo the way and warm ears! wooly hat, and a big cosy coat!

Whatever clothing comes to hand really.

Cold doesnt get to me that much - no central heating at home so cold all the time, and work on building site, so more cold.
