What towing vehicles or where to get good reviews/advice?

I've been towing for a couple of years with a, uneconomical automatic which is great for towing but terrible for daily use. I bought a very economical diesel car for daily use and am now at the point of getting rid of both and getting a modern towing vehicle with decent economy, reasonable budget too.

Can anyone give me their opinions on their modern towing vehicles (5 years old maximum) or point me in the direction of some reference info? I'd like to know MPG for normal driving and towing capacity. I don't need a giant beast as I am towing two small horses so rated to 2800kg would be fine (afaik).

I've tried 'what car' but it's not much help for comparing.

Would be interested to know about

Jeep Cherokee
Mitsubishi Shogun
Mitsubishi L200 (pick up)
Nissans (any towing vehicle's that you like)

or anything else you think is good.

Hi, www.towinghorsetrailers.co.uk is an excellent website and I'm sure you'll find everything you want on there! I know I've been addicted to it recently, I'm doing my trailer towing lessons, got my test in July!
