what type of boots do you prefer when riding?

i have a similar issue haha, i have small wide feet so johd boots really hurt my feet, and i have short legs so most chaps sit in the middle of me knees.. and some long boots and too long! damn my short stature!

A lot of long boot manufacturers do short lengths though, and boots tend to be shorter in smaller sizes so you should be able to find some suitable long boots.

I find that as I need a size 4 the boots sit far too low on my leg and I have a big gap between knee and boot. I have yet to find a manufacturer that does longer length boots.

It is the same with fashion boots, they are all calf length. :(

I have the mid-calf length long boot problem - which is frustrating as I don't have unusually small feet and I'm not unusually tall

Lets start a petition!

Perhaps we both have freakishly long lower legs :o people must think I look a right weirdo, what with this post about my small feet long legs issue and the one the other week about my massive head.....

Haha maybe! I have freakishy small hands and wrists and head - we're both a pair of wierdos! :D

My legs are longish relative to my body, but seriously I'm only 5'8 - my friend is 6' and her boots are too short on me  wth is wrong with my legs? :D

For myself, I always go with Long one as I feel more comfortable than short one.
I am not tall either (1.6m), but I can get a pair of long leather riding boot from Shires- Norfork. This model seems come with different calf height.

Short boots and gaiters. I have some Ariat Grasmere's which have enough give in the ankle but I much prefer my short boots, more ankle freedom and closer contact with saddle/horse. I haven't even attempted regular long boots, my legs are too skinny!

I always ride in short boots and chaps, mainly beacause my lower leg is short and the majority of long boots are just too tall!! Have just bought myself a new pair of Shires yard boots which can also be used for riding, they're great! Great position in the stirrup and as they cover my ankle, they feel really supportive. :)

Technically, I prefer riding in short boots, as I feel I have a better position.
However, as im so tall, long boots look better on me as chaps only go 1/4 up my calf. 9/10 I can never be bothered faffing around with chaps and short boots. And I prefer to wear breeches as they are looser, and so I have to wear long boots with them.

Mountain Horse short boots and chaps - I've got such short legs that anything else cuts into the back of my knees! The plus side is that I can wear breeches with short boots and I much prefer them to jodhpurs. I've also found that my short boots support my (rapidly ageing) ankles better than long ones.
