it is lovely and yellow for wheat straw! It probably just means it was cut quite early, just watch that doesn't mean it was damp when it was cut as it could mean it will go mouldy or get dusty!. I'm sure it will be fine though- these farmers seem to know what they are doing

Funny you say about the dampness, as the straw is stuck together quite a bit, as if it had been baled damp, however it is not musty or dusty and looks really nice in his bed
Looks like wheat to me - I always used barley straw. However, I now use Bliss because, although I had cheap access to barley straw, I found that I had to put shavings under it cos the mare was sooooo wet. Worked out cheaper with the Bliss and much less work too!
