Yes I did wonder, but the cattle dogs have a tail like a fox's brush don't they? Smossy's dog definitely has a feathery tail

They have a pretty smooth tail. But the shepherd don't have a tail at all!!

I would say cattle dog x possibly some JRT and a tiny bit of some kind of spaniel.
