Im just being nosey now so dont feel you have to reply if you feel i am being too forward. I got both of mine for under £700 not because i didnt want to spend more i was just lucky to find a good bargin!
I've only ever bought one horse - before that I had several loan horses.
Boo cost me £3,750. He was an 8 year old who had been taught the basics well and had done a little low level competing. He wasn't a bargain, but I'd say he was a fair price at the time. Mind you I hadn't planned on spending over £3k!
£12.500, for a gorgeous chestnut boy when he was eventing at novice....he started Advanced mid season this year, and is awsome
he was worth every penny!!
A real machine XC....yet sensable enough to look after my working pupil round a PN at the end of the season for a 'fun run' -(I know, lucky kid!!)
mmmmmmm I love him
£1,700 back in 1990 for a registered Highland pony 7 years old out the Grousedean line. Perfect pony worth ever penny, we kept him til he was PTS. £2,800 on a 4 year old Bavarian WB, not so perfect but taught me alot. He was sold on as an 11 year old as I didn't have the time to compete.
The horse I have now was free with rugs
friend needed a good home and I was the only person stupid enough to take her! She has also taught me alot, like how mares are so much more fickle than geldings...oh and to dodge your ass out the way when girthing up!
the most we paid was 2k for our section D stally we had years ago, he was good value considering his temperament and bloodlines
my mare who i still have now cost 650 at auction in 1992, i wont spend lots on a hose, mostly because i cant and dont need to, you can get a bargain if you know where to look, and also i am not into expensive horses per say, i like a good rugged cob or gypsy cob, they dont tend to cost the earth like a registered and papered trakhener would for example, i think such breeds are stunning but i doubt i would ever own one, not me really
£1000 i dont like spending on ready made horses! I like to shape them myself so they are generally a bit cheeper to buy. Bought shadow for 400 sold him for £4000 which was a good investment- but wish i'd never sold him!
Current horse was £2000, although that was a good £500 more than he was worth as a horse - as a pet and friend he was definately worth it, never met a horse with a sweeter temperament.
It was a dodgy scruffy TB out a delaers field in gateshead, or a well bred Selle Francais in a private schooling yard for same price. I went for the TB
