What was the most expensive horse you have ever purchased?

£5k eekkk! For a six year old tb ex racer who had £70 on his bsja record and four double clears at british novice and two clears at disco (off the top of my head!) cost me a small forune in vets bills but finally seems to be coming good

£2500 for a horse that got LOU'd barely 6 months later (insurance paid out 100%!)

Currently, now £800 for my Sec D and the coloured i'm probably going to buy will be between £1000- and £1500.

Current girl was £750, I knocked her sellers down half price as she really wasnt worth it. So glad I di tho cus shes a smashing girl!
My coloured mare was 1000 gn from an auction (£1050) I was offered £4000 not long before she was PTS (cancer) also bred a coloured colt from her and sold him for 1500. My 1st pony was £950 and worth about £50 when we realised what was wrong was him! He was the best ever pony tho, so glad we had him!

sadly the stallion no longer with us, has died in 2005 at the age of ten... but I do have a lovely 4yo by him out of my grade A mare

£5.5k for both the last two. One a beautiful, well bred, scopey 6YO mare with a few BSJA winnings. Also with a frequent tendency for bolting and lameness. The other a sweet, slightly gangly 4YO with a pink nose and a very polite disposition.

I paid $1,300 canadian for my 5 yr old paint mare.
That was about 650 pounds (havn't got a pound button on my canadian keyboard).
She was broken to western but very green.
It was November, dark and had been snowing and I just walked her up and down the owners driveway a bit!!!
The winter was awful so I didn't ride till spring and now we are back to winter so will not be doing much till spring again.

Needless to say we have a long way to go.

The most I think was £1500 plus an ex racer for a horse who turned out to be not what he was supposed to be. Since then I pay very little ,the least £95 plus £5 delivery for a welshie, £195 for a welsh B, £100 for a 13yr old Warmblood , I plan to carry on this way, like a bargain LOL

£1500 for my ex racer TB mare. They wanted £2.5k but at the time she really wasn't worth it.
She has proved to be a complete bargain and has alot of potential to be an amazing all rounder!

Maximum my family have paid is £1500 and he wasn't worth that - it was anything to get poor horse out of that hell hole he was in!

Mousey (the Eriskay) was £350 as a 6 month colt, in 1993
Squirrel was £500 (owner desp wanted us to buy him!)
Blackjack was £1000
Woody was £1500
Jazz is on loan to me!!!

£3000 on my mare. Eight months later she had a torn tendon and was worth meat money. She's still fairly worthless but I'd NEVER sell her so that doesn't matter!
I hate to think how much money I'm going to have to save up to buy my next horse (I HAVE to have a PRE Andalusian so that makes it at least £5000 unless I can find a good bargain!

Most was £6000 for a grade C mare, she had been sold for a lot more to the people I bought her from but they just wanted a good home, fantastic horse but cost me a bomb in vet and physio! The three bargains I had were £450, £600 and free! Could do with a few more of them. Current mare was a bargain at £3500 as had been £8000 as a 4yo but ended up in a home with little experience so needed restarting. Not worth much now as she has hock spavin but we still have fun!

£4750 for a 6yo Welton gelding. What a waste of money, napped and napped and eventually ended up at the blood bank permanently lame.

When I started horse hunting in 2005 after a few years break, I nearly paid £8k for a horse, but luckily the sellers decided they didn't want to wait for me to vet it - that feels like a lucky escape. I then nearly paid £6k for a horse who failed it's vetting. Ended up paying a LOT less than that for him, but the vetting was right and he now has a different home - glad I didn't pay the £6k! I also looked at a couple of £10k horses

but in the end paid £3500 for a great mare, 6yo at the time. And the extra money bought a car and trailer, so thank god I didn't spend all my savings on a made-up eventer that I couldn't afford to buy transport for

I bought my 14h NF when he was just 5 for £3000 but he has the most gentle nature and is such a loving pony he is worth that just as a giant teddy.

He is however a super quiet hacking pony forward but not spooky. He has the added advantage of being registered so I can compete as an adult on a pony and he can jump 4.9ft although I have not yet schooled him as a jumping pony.

Actually Axel is the most expensive horse I've ever bought and he was the bargain of the century! He was £900 as a yearling!!!!!

Rocky my last horse was £850 also bought as a yearling, and I sold him for £6000 as a 5 yr old in 1996. He has since been sold to USA for £30k...

I have always bought cheap horses, played about with them and sold them on for lots more.

In doing this i accumulated a secret horse stash!!! I did go to frankly international this year and buy a dream for 8k, but in saying that im still quids up

Oh and i have just bought an adorable coloured cob of JM07!
(will be for sale in future lol!)
