What was this dog?

I met a lone dog today on my way home from work.
It was about knee height at its head and had fur the colour roughly of my dark yellow lab. A bit fox like, fur as thick as it gets.
I did call and eventually meet the owner and hand it back but didn’t ask what it was! It luckily had a tag with a phone number!
Big ears. Bit chow like but smaller and blonder.
I do know but can’t think for the life of me so if someone says I think I’ll know.

Ah yes very possibly but that isn’t a name I’d have known so I must have been wrong. Amazing coat.
Apparently it did it’s own thing and often ran off

If not a shiba inu then a Korean jindo? Although much less common I would have thought.

I think from googling all it was a Shiba Inu.
What an amazing coat. Would that take a lot of care?

I think the fur is quite dense but short. Probably a complete shedding nightmare. There are 2 round here. Very fox like. One owner has an Akita and the shiba, little and large!

That’s what I thought it was, an Akita but too small.

My friend has Shibas they shed but don’t think the coat takes much maintenance

The short coated spitz breeds I've had shed spectacularly when blowing their undercoat but that only lasts a couple of weeks and they are typically very low maintenance otherwise, it's not greasy/smelly, doesn't need trimming, doesn't form matts and dirt just drops off.
