What was your ultimate 'dream horse' as a child?

Ive always wanted a palomino, or Shantih the Arab from a book i read.

I think any pony would have done for me as I wasnt allowed one, but I think any of 'Jills' ponies from the books (Jill has two ponies, Jills Gymkhana etc) as they were always a little bit naughty but always beat everyone lol.

Also I loved the local Riding School Owners horse who I used to think was massive. He was called GayDay. He was so lovely and really talented. Never did get to sit on him.

I eventually saved for my first pony at 18 and she was a little PBA called Whisper.

Now ive got Gen who I fell in love with as a foal and have had him ever since (now 6). He is very quirky and one of a kind, drives me potty and stresses me out sometimes but wouldnt part with him for the world.

If I was getting a horse for me now I would love a coloured cob - but a really hairy one with lots of feather etc and only about 15hh. Failing that a lovely black stallion but thats a real dream!!!!

Anything with 4 legs, a mane and a tail would have been sufficient for me LOL!! I would have done anything to have just had possession of a saddle!! However i always dreamt of owning a little blue roan pony called Dudley??

Never materialised as i ended up with a big bay who although tested every boundary going was more than a dream horse, as he was the start of my life of being a mad horseowner!!

was always a sucker for a chestnut especially those that go that coppery colour in the autumn/winter

first horse was palamino, then had Higgs who was bay, then due to fate taking Higgs before his time I got Pidge who has to be the most delectable chestnut colour imaginable, not that I'm biased in any way whatsoever

so yes my dream horse does exist

My dream horse was a black horse too!!! Spooky. With 4 white stockings all the same length and a big white blaze. Bit like the cavalry horses they use. How come i have had an appy, a bay roan, a bay, dark bay and now have a coloured!!!

I always dreamt about having a fiery, hard to handle TB or Arab, that had all the "fashionable" stuff like a Dutch gag and had to have boots on all the time and no-one else could ride it but me, as that would be really impressive (or so I thought when I was little)!
I ended up with my dream horse though (although in my dreams she didn't go so very lame), but my dream changed to fit Maiden as soon as I saw her. I was looking for a 16.2hh TB X and fell in love with my chunky 15.3hh ID instead! Now, every time I look at a for sale ad, I compare it to Maiden and nothing seems to be good enough any more. Plus, she's the complete opposite of my childhood dream horse as she is so easy to do and ride, no add-ons required! She is 100% perfect, would be 110% if she were sound.
Strange how some of us have achieved our dreams while others have made them more realistic and therefore still achieved them!

Now I am a little tipsy.....so bear with me.....I always wanted a horse called ALDANITI....hope thats spelt right......any of u familiar with that

Oh dear - I never managed to get more realistic - I grew up (well, sort of) and still had to have the fiery Arab stallion lol ! Although scary gadgets were not part of my fantasy, thank goodness.

You're right, though, almost everyone seems to feel they have their dream, even if it isn't the dream they started out with.

Funny how so many of our childhood dream-horses were actually fictional characters, isn't it?
