I recently got a score of 55.83 in an affiliated BD prelim and won the class!!!! OK so I was the only open rider in the section but that is irrelevant

.

I felt so sorry for the 20 or so people in the restricted section, the winning score was about 70% and I think the person last in the class was low 60s.

don't worry i know the feeling i felt like a rode a really good test and then i got 49.1% !!!

but then the test did say falling 8 times

the thing is that isnt exaggeration which made me laugh

30% in Axel's first ever walk and trot test!
He went sideways round the arena spooking at everything, and then I forgot the test and just trotted him round! I got 2''s for the last half lol! I didn't come last tho, someone else got eliminated!

He has somewhat redeemed himself since then, but I laugh every time I think about it as my Mum and Dad, sister, husband all came to watch for like the first time ever! When I came out my Mum said 'wow he was doing all that sideways stuff and everything!' The she saw someone else's test and said 'oh' is that what you were supposed to be doing then?

You just had to ask !!!!!!

Is not as freaky as it sounds. In my defence is was a VERY windy day. I was crossing the diagonal FXH in free walk with nice long reins and a good stretch. There was a shed next to H that was being used to sell refreshments. As I headed to H the shed door opened, got caught by the wind and slammed back with an almighty bang. Horse spun round and shot back to F dumping me nicely at X enroute. As I was at X anyway I got up, dusted myself off, turn and saluted the judge from the ground, collected my horse at A and left the arena on foot.

I've posted the tale of my worst ever dressage test on here before, and I can't tell you the score, as the judge gave up on marking before I gave up on riding

I was working on a yard, and they were a bit short of entrants for one of the tests (held in the indoor school, which had big metal doors just to the side of the judge's table and chair).
They made me ride a huge black Standardbred thing...I entered bravely enough, but it quickly became apparent that the horse had a pathological terror of being in the school on his own. Tension mounted...until the first canter transition, where he tore off down the school flat out, jaws agape, as I bridged the reins, and hauled, swerved past the judge's table (I caught a glimpe of her startled face), and b*gg*red off out the doors.
I managed to stop him outside...and went back in to continue, but unfortunately could not achieve a pace slower than three quarter speed...and realised, that not only was the judge not writing...she was sort of crouching, like a runner on the starting blocks...poised.

She did give me my sheet afterwards. At the first gallop exit movement, she had written 'Somewhat against the hand'

These posts are fab! I have just started doing some dressage comps with Jerry. I have done 2 at a friend's yard who held a couple of competitions for a few friends and we did quite well - scores in the 60s. Then last month I went to a 'real' RC competition. I was completely stressed as it was the first time I had EVER towed, it was pouring with rain and this was my very first real test.
Somehow I managed 58.3% even though Jerry decided to jump the puddles lying on the all-weather surface! Then I forgot to show walk steps, then I went wrong changing to trot when I should be cantering then crossing the wrong diagonal! Things can only get better!

my first outing with my homebred 4yo included me falling off entering the arena as said horse jumped 12 foot of mush into the warmup ring from a standstill. i got back on, someone cantered towards me giving their horse a good hiding and she reared and leapt (would have got a 10 from the spanish riding school for capriole!!!) and i slid off her bum and landed in the mud again. at which point i put her back on the wagon and went for a brew!

after changing my white jods, which now looked like they had done a weeks hunting! so, even if you just get the centre line bit ok, you got further than me!

i got eliminated/made to retire at a prelim a few weeks ago when pony jumped from E to B in one movement and left me hanging round his neck. Judge got out of the car and started to give me a lesson instead :cringe:

I am used to being top with my old Welshie, so propping up the bottom of the class with mr.spooky is a new thing for me. i think worst actual score so far is 53.5% which actually beats the worst one i got on Dan which was 48% at affiliated novice - best bit is that he did absolutely nothing wrong other than be a bit stuffy.

i got asked to leave lol
mare was at her 'come back' test after a little holiday.she is always very wound up for the first 2 hours if shes not been out to any parties for a while- but is fine if shes out competing regularly!
thought i would go for something easier to help so went into elementary class.
got there late, dark bay horse was snorting doing arab impressions, she was so tense and wound up.
warmed up ok ish, got in the arena, was ok up the centre line, then stopped dead at x and did about 20 plungie wungies then jumped out over the fence.lol.i didnt bother getting my sheet but now i wonder what it said!

he must be related to moses!! he too did a huge sideways leap when he saw himself in the mirror, must be a welsh thing!!

Another test that will always stick in my memory was doing a PC ODE on my rather nutty TBx - dressage was NEVER his thing, show jumping was fast, and XC lightning speed!
The dressage was on a grass arena in the middle of one of the XC fields - we entered at A in extended trot, and continued down the centre line, over the whiteboards, past the judges car, and across the field!! The judge got out of her car and kindly asked if I would like to start again!! Control was never my strong point with Rocky - he did make me a very tactful rider - 'tactfully ridden' was the comment I got in most of my dressage tests with him - I tended to stick to show jumping!!
One of the first tests I rode on Rocky was a prelim level freestyle, again with the pony club - we pretty much made it up as we went along, although I don't think the tempi-changes that he was doing throughout the canter were required at that level!
