what way does a dark dapple grey coat chang through out the year.

do the dapples stay all year, or just mostly in summer, never had one and just want to know all about there coat changes, also is it soooooooooo hard to keep them clean mine will be out 24/7 unless have tp take in, as have a open stables in field too so he/she can go in to stable if they want. i really wanted a black as sure you know from my threads but really have a thing for dark dapple greys. so all info welcome and pics

Ours was nearly black when we got her as a 4yr old. By the time we sold her at 8yrs she was well on her way to being grey. She was slightly darker in winter, and got lighter each year. Shame they don't stay dapple is't it!
 
Mine has gone from being a dappled rose gray to pretty much flea bitten in winter now. Still he is stunning regardless but could perhaps do without the huge amounts of white hair he is currently shedding!

I think theres less dapples in the winter!! He had no dapples as a 4yr old then started to go dappley at about 5/6

My dapple grey is now 10 and still retaining alot of his dapples, I find his coat goes lighter in the Winter
