I am going to put my old horses shoes above my stable door, but don't know what way up to put them - I have heard upside down and the luck falls out, "right" way up and the devil gets trapped inside. Do I put them on their side?

Lol, silly question I know, and I'm not a bit superstitious so will probably put them the way I think looks best, but just curious to learn what the "correct" way is

Yep heels up is the way i was always told to put up a horse shoe. heels up to catch good luck, upside down and the luck runs off. I think they look better that way as well.

ditto this.

Or have you got enough to make a word? ie your horse's name above it's stable?

Heels down if u live in Rutland (Rutland tradition, there are loads of upside-down horse shoes in Rutland museum left as gifts from visiting kings etc) heels up for rest ok UK.

Only problem is how do u hang it if u live right on the border of Rutland.....

I've heard the same although it was heels up and the devil sits in it! I gave up and didnt hang any up.:)
