OK, I know Polo mints are readily devoured by most equines, and my boy is no exception. But here in Germany, feeding peppermints to a horse seems to be rather out of the ordinary, to say the least! I regularly have to explain that the The Cob has had the occasional Polo since I've owned him (just over 17 years), and the Queen Mother was famous for having a packet in her pocket when she made visits to her horses in training. 
My last yard owner often said to Merls: 'Du und dein pfferminze!' (You and your peppermints), but he was a lovely man and I'd be back on that yard in a nano second, given half a chance!
Ooooh, and before I forget!
My carriage driving instructor would often have us stop at the village store to by a Twix. Not for us mere humans,you understand! For the neds, who really relished them!
