Hi all...

I have always been a lover of Hunter wellies as they are comfy and fit well! But I have been through 2 pairs in 2 years which at £70 (roughly) a pair it's getting a little expensive!

I don't ride in them, I do stand them up after use just they seem to perish somewhere in the foot and I am always just too late to send back within the 12 months warranty :(

If anyone can reccommend another make I would greatly apprecaite it as I just don't have £70 to spend on a pair of wellies every year...

:)

Hi,
From a cheap and cheerful perspective, I've had a couple of pairs of Rydale wellies and they've lasted me a couple of years each - wearing them approx 4 times a week. I think they cost about £25 and there are lots of different patterns/colours.
Good luck in your search!

Another vote for the Aigle Parcours. But......they are a bugger to get on (well mine are anyway) as the inside heel part has a rubbery surface and my feet get stuck on the way in!!! Broken many a nail dragging them on so any tips how to 'unstick' the rubbery bit would be appreciated :)

Love my Aigles,

A good tip. slip a small plastic freezer bag over your socks if you find boots a bit tight, they slip straight on.

I have worn Skellerup Perth gumboots since I was a teenager - photos prove it!! And that was back in the 1960s!!! They last several years with me.....they may not be pretty but they are very practical!!

Squeak, it says on that page made in Europe, designed in England... But they do look very similar!

I have my free hunter balmorals (from H and H subscription) and they're just over a year old now... Still look brand new apart from the mud and I use them all the time. So far so good!!

Le Chameau, expensive but worth it. I have had mine for around 7 years with no signs of wear (other than lots of dirt!). Cool in summer and warm in winter as they are lined in neoprene and so you don't need to wear thick socks. They are very comfy with a bouncy cushioned sole. Slim line too, easy to get on as they have a strap at the top to tighten after getting them on. I have ridden in them in foul weather as they are very close to the leg and quite elegant for wellies. Love them x

I have a pair if Caldene neoprene wellies... Have a sneaking suspicion that they won't last as long as my last pair.my last pair were a pair of really cheap wellies from sports direct, I think they where less than £20 and are still going strong after 3 years, they're just cold... And I'm a wimp...

Talcum powder is your friend! Just sprinkle a little in over the rubbery bit!

If you're after proper wellies, I can't recommend Landmasters enough! I used to have a pair of Hunters, found that my feet would get cold when out hunting on foot no matter how many pairs of socks I wore, or how thick they were. I've had a couple of pairs from Rydale but find that the rubber splits (it's not very malleable!) quite easily, so mother hen came home with some Landmasters one day.

Ok, so they're a bit on the 'clompy' side and they add about two inches to my height, but I've had them for about 5 years and I wear them on a daily basis around the farm and up the hill and hunting when I'm on foot. My feet are never cold, the rubber hasn't split and I look like a proper farmer :P

My dad and brother also have a pair each and they're actual farmers, so I think their recommendation is pretty sound!

My feet always got cold in my Hunters. I love my Gumleaf neoprene lined wellies. I have finally had to buy a new pair for £90 as my old pair developed a small crack across the front and as I have to wade through thick mud to get the horses in, this wasn't good! They lasted 7 years of daily mucking out and dog walking. Best wellies I've ever had and super comfortable.

Echo this ^ well worth the money. I have the ISO ones with the neoprene lining, very warm and comfy!

Yep - Aigle Parcours ISO's with the neoprene lining are wonderful - absolutely amazing wellies. Walked 7 miles in them the other weekend and could have done it all again! Brilliant boots, but I could imagine that the ISO's could be a bit warm in a hot sumemr (but would like to think that wellies wouldn't be needed then...) Hubby has the Aigle Parcours Outlast.

Amazon had some great 50% off deals a while ago - worth a look...

I'm all about neoprene or generally anything lined wellies, I hate that cold clammy feeling! I have some old Derwent ones with a fabric cuff round the top which I love but are many many years old (and came from a charity shop!) They don't even exist anymore! I do want some le chameau so keeping my eye on eBay :-)
