What will you be doing on Christmas Day

As the title says "What will you be doing on Christmas Day" horsey wise. It has always been a tradition in our house that we ride out early. When I hunted they would all get a nice pipe opener around the woods and then get turned out. Now I don't hunt ( Have not done for a number of years) We still ride out and sometimes drop in on friends. As they all live out I just skip out the stables and field shelters give them plenty of hay and then deal with the family.
 
Wake up, muck out, ride :-) then home to relax, not having a big christmas this year as sister has just got married so they are in the Carribean so just be the 3 of us and the dog, but lots of carva and beer left over from the wedding means we will certainly have a merry christmas :-)
 
Going to go up early and go for a nice hack if its not peeing it down and muck out and walk the dog. Then I'll go spend a hellish few hours trying to prevent all members of my family from not killing one another over Christmas dinner then make my excuses and leave about 3ish to go back, bring them in and fuss them for a bit. Hmm if only I could spend all day at the yard! :rolleyes:

I am home alone for xmas this yr!

My mum is flying to the UAE today to spend xmas and new yr with my dad (he has no holiday left so cant come home!) my sister moved out a month ago so is off out for a meal with the new bf and his family!

I will be up early heading to the livery yard to look after the injured one then home to do the rest, may slip in a cheeky ride on my new loan boy! A very kind friend has offered to feed me so heading to hers for lunch, then home to put them all to bed!

Nothing yet planned for the eve so will probably find myself in front of the fire/ an early night ready for hunting on boxing day!!

Bit of a loserish xmas considering im 23! But heyho!! New yrs eve doesnt look much better either hahaha :D
 
I'm really sad as I won't see my girl on Christmas Day; my family all decided to go up to my sisters hours away and my OH isn't even coming as we have nobody to feed the cats so although I will love seeing my family it will be pretty rubbish without OH and my mare. Is it wrong that I want to go straight to yard on Boxing day on my way home rather than rushing to see OH and his kids to open pressies...?!
 
Chilling with my animals, I have a caravan at the field where me, the dog and the goat will chill out for a few hours and watch the animals playing

Hubby is working nights so will be in bed
 
Get up before everyone feed horses sort dogs and food tidy up from drinking party that will have gone on for hours after I went to bed .
I light the fires sort out the logs
Groom comes horses will be turned out the two who hunted Christmas eve will be hunting boxing day so they don't need working J is off work ATM and the new horse will be ok with a day off .I will sort tack for boxing day put on numahs and lay everything out .
Once the yard is done the horses come back in we wash off the legs of the the two needed for boxing day and get the mud off them .
Then it champagne and smoked salmon while I get the food on the go my BF and her OH drives over with her pony wearing sleigh bells it's great when you hear them coming .
Then presents late lunch , a bit of washing up ,then pudding then horses hopefully ready to flop and watch downtown abbey with MIL its her favourite.
 
Fellow livery is chucking Kali out for me in the morning . . . I will be sitting by the fire drinking fizz and eating smoked salmon (it's a hard life) while we open presents. Will do last minute food prep, chill with family and watch films, walk the dogs. I will head up to the yard at about 3 to muck out, etc., will bring Kal in and give him his dinner (laced with Guinness) and then head home to finish making Christmas dinner (hubby and girls will have set the table, etc. while I'm gone). Eat and drink far too much, fallen into a stupor on the sofa, wake up at sparrow's fart to bathe Kal ready for the Boxing Day Hunt.

Muck out and turn out (weather permitting) at about half seven. Then back home to open pressies. It just me and my boyfriend at home for lunch and maybe a trip to the pub. Will be back at the yard for three ish to bring in etc then home again where i've got 16 people coming for a drink in the evening!
 
Clear up after Christmas Eve as everyone from the yard coming round for supper, put oven on for dinner, go to yard and turn out and muck out. I'm not planning to ride but, having read here that others are, I am feeling slightly tempted... This will be the first time ever that OH and I have had Christmas Day on our own so time might not be as much as an issue as usual!
Then dinner before back to yard to bring in. Have an invite to Christmas tea at YO's but don't know if I'll be able to prise OH out of his chair after a big lunch. Then get ready for whole family coming on Boxing Day and work out if I will have time to ride before they arrive.
 
Our lot live out so will be seeing to them usual time after presents! :D

We then go again in the evening and put up haynets in the paddocks around 8pm but Xmas day we give them extra nets and put them up about 5pm after lunch so we can have a drink.

We all go together so we get them done quickly, they get there Xmas carrots and a hug on top of the usual jobs. It's all weather dependant of course! If we suddenly get a ton of snow and -20 temperature, we might be there a little longer... :p
 
To yard at early doors.
Feed mine
Feed next doors 3 & turn out with hay.
Feed & turnout 2 and 3 in 2 other yards nearby and along lane.
Back to mine to ride, do yard & then home for cooked brekkie & pressies.
Clean tack & check gear - if going to boxing day meet next day

Later in afternoon, return to yard & do my 2 for the night.
Home to finish off cooking xmas dinner, eat, chill out :)
 
I've made arrangements with a yard friend to help each other out over Xmas and as I don't have children who want to open presents at the crack of dawn I've offered to the morning shift and she is returning the favour and sorting my mare out in the evening. We shall do the same on Boxing day but the opposite way around.

I doubt I'll ride on Xmas day as I'll be rushing around trying seeing both my family and my OH's family.
 
Get up early as usual and bring in the Red beast pile him up with hay nets then make a fire and wake hubby enjoy festivities and give the horses and dogs their Christmas treats then go over to mothers for dinner role back in the eve turn out the red beast ignore the pooey stable and fill up on cheese and wine.

Get up early boxing day and groan at the realisation that I have to muck out the red beast's stable before bringing him in.

I Might try and sneak in a ride on Christmas morning as the roads will be silent depends how asleep my husband is. :D
 
Walking the dogs, then up to yard for morning feeds and turnout. Am on full livery but it's xmas, YO deserves a day off! Hoping to have a ride on share horse, weather permitting.

Then down to my father for xmas lunch. He hates horses, and does not know about mine, so any evidence of horses must be hidden from car first :D Dogs are however invited.

Back to yard for evening stuff, and walk dogs again. Then home, to be mugged by cats for table scraps from xmas lunch. In laws are coming over for a drink, I may be busy elsewhere if at all possible...
 
Get up at 6 and do my 3 horses, then drive to work for 8, hay water feed and skip out 14 horses at work, they can have a duvet day, then back to mine for presents with my bf, then to his mum's for late lunch, at around 4pm I will repeat morning horsey duties, then to my mums for presents an sleep!!!
 
For the first time in a good few years sadly I have no horses to look after. It will feel really weird not being able to give them their Xmas goodies :(
On the up side though, there will be more time to chill out with my son:)
 
Got 17 people staying for 3 days!! Will get up early feed dogs (guest ones as well as our 3) and let horses out. Will then make everyone a cup of tea and try to get them out of bed before little children open all their pressies. Will then watch kids present opening and then go back out with daughter to muck out horses while everyone gets breakfast ready. Will then cook Xmas lunch for 17, lay table etc etc. eat,drink, open more pressies, bring horses in. No riding for me this year, although my daughter might sneak a quick one in!
 
Horses as normal really! Out there at dawn to give breakfast with added cuddles and Christmas treats, turn out, go in to "do Christmas", muck out etc mid afternoon and bring them in whilst attempting the Xmas dinner! Horse is currently not rideable so I won't be taking her for a Christmas ride like I did last year, though it would have been lovely :(
 
I will be doing a lot of Christmas Day horse work on Christmas Eve so it will be minimal work on the Day, just have to feed all the horses and then I'm done (hopefully). Will stack the fire up, have a yummy cooked breakfast of pancakes, bacon and eggs. Wait for everyone to arrive so we can open the presents. Celebrate a bit with champers and then off to friends house for Christmas dinner and plenty of laughs.
 
We will do the horses early and if the weather is OK go for a quick hack. Then a leisurely breakfast, probably scrambled eggs with mushrooms, smoked salmon etc. Then the in-laws will pop round with presents, and after that we all go off to a friend's house for mulled wine, mince pies, roasted chestnuts and a lovely chat with neighbours and friends of all ages. Then back down the road to another set of friends for Christmas dinner!

Boxing day we have my mum, brother, sister in law and children coming over and we plan on doing a Christmas musical ride to entertain the children (assuming the weather is kind enough)!
 
Christmas morning it's out in the PJ's to turn out - no riding this year! Then it's time to persuade our 4 kids in their 20's that they CAN get up and all help with the stables after some smoked salmon and bucks fizz.;) Then a mega pressie opening session as our dogs can't wait to open theirs! :):) After that its Christmas dinner prep as everyone gets slowly pickled and a quick dash to bring the 2 horses in and give them their apple and carrot treats. Dinner by candlelight and lots of laughs, silly games and a very happy me to have everyone together for once. Can't wait!! :D:D
 
Down to the yard for 8am and turn the girls out. Brothers family will come have canapes open present & then leave. Help cook dinner bring ponies off grass at noon give hay poo pick field (sad I know but I'm OCD on poo picking) then have lunch and listern to queens speak then walk back to the field after a few glass of vino to put GG's to bed about 4pm. Return back home for full selection of puddings well I deserve it after walking 2 miles, sit in front of tv and wait for Dowton Abby
 
Get up early to let my horse out, go back to bed for a couple of hours until daylight and then go for a hack. Come back home, have a nice breakfast and un-wrap presents with OH and then it is down to the pub for lunch! Eat, drink and be merry...then stumble back for 4.00pm to put my lad to bed and then spend the evening by the log burner watching some nice rubbish on the television.
 
Anything other than celebrate xmas!! I hate it so I will avoid at all costs by pottering about at the yard, tidying etc, walking the dog and seeing to my fish tanks.
