Picked up a schedule for a show today, and they have a class for 'in hand riding pony'. Would I be able to enter Donovan in it? He is 12.2hh welsh sec b that has been backed.

Yes, definitely! Despite being a native, I would plait for that though.

Have fun and let us know how it goes :)

Does he have to be plaited or would that be choice? Its just there are 2 classes we could do, m&m and then ridden pony. Obviously m&m is not plaited.

If the riding pony class is first I would plait, he should really have a pretty coloured browband on also, then take plaits out for the M&M, if the other way round just go in unplaited.

A 'Riding Pony' class is indeed a 'show pony' class. To be honest I would only do it with a B if it was a very 'local' show. He would be expected to be trimmed and plaited.

Ditto what the others say - riding pony is just an alternative name for show pony. You could do it for experience, but if he's a true to type section B he'd be a bit heavier than the others.
