what would be good to cross with a TB

i am considering putting my mare in foal, (this is my decision so don't shot me down in flame) she is 15.3 full tb, i want to breed from her to have a foal that i can produce myself and keep to possible event or sj, ideal i would like to put her something that will make 16.2hh and was think possible ID, what do TB cross well with.

p.s. IF i decide to do this i will be fully commited to it and will have researched every avenue and make sure i can afford every eventuality, so please don't judge me this is only an option i am considering.
 
I'm no expert on breeding by any means but I would say ID, I had a super IDxTB, would turn his hand to anything and lovely temperament. He was 16.3hh

I've got one out of a Shire mare by a Tb stallion, and one out of a Bavarian mare by a Tb stallion.

To be honest, I have always been told that the 'right' cross is to have a heavier mare, for example, a Shire, and use a Tb stallion.
If you put yours to an ID stallion, for example, some might consider that to be the 'wrong' cross.

If I were you, I'd find a stallion similar to your mare's height -probably Tb or Warmblood, rather than anything native and heavy. And to try to gain 3 inches in height is a tall order too (pun intended).

That's just me though.

fair comment shils, i am new to breeding hence why i am asking, tbh as long as its doesn't turn out smaller than 15.2 it would be fine as i can ride her fine.
 
Would definately go down the warmblood route. Something with good proven jumping lines, that moves well.

I have just had a lovely belgian warmblood cross my tb mare colt foal.

The mare was a lovely eventer and the plan was/is to put a bit more umph into the jump.
 
The tb/wb cross is very popular, we have had several people book full tb into our stallion (Oldenburg) this year to put on a refined substance and more movement. They have also chosen him on his temprement as they have hot tb's and want something more sensible and rideable.

I think the right cross taking into account the mares strong and week points and temprement of both parties can result in some lovely foals.
 
Keep it British! Avanti Amorous Archie RID. I use TB mares with ID's all the time. If your mare is of deep enough girth you will be fine using an ID. See our mare on another post title In foal maybe page 2/3 now. She is in foal to Archie. Will PM his details over to you.

It used to be common to take the working mare to the TB, blood on bone. This is the result from a TB mare & ID

It can work doing it this way, but there is a risk of getting something top heavy. An ISH may be a safer option or as others have said a WB. There have been some really nice foals this year judging by all the photo's so I dont think you will have a problem finding a stallion to suit her.
 
Another "Keep it British" fan!

We breed Welsh Sport Horses and frequently put the Sed D stallion on the TB mare to produce a quality, talented, intelligent yet highly rideable individual.
They compete in all disciplines and most importantly they have hybrid vigour and rarely develop limb/foot problems.

The other suggested option is the ISH and we have also done this cross, a tried and tested mating which is regaining popularity.
