What would cause violent (projectile poo!) diarrhoea for 48 hours?

Still wondering about PF's explosive poo (saw one emerge this morning and it was spectacular) this afternoon though, she was fine. What would cause that? I'm thinking bad hay/ dirty water? Yes, no?

Pramox wormer - the sh*t sprayed over his stable was like a biblical flood! passed after 2 days but i did get the vet to check him out
The other thing that caused it was when we switched to Haylege and one of the cobs cant eat more than a handful without a fountain of poo

A change of feed and management, added to the stress of the recent journey? Maybe some probiotics might settle her down

Vet's first guess was wormer! Now that you mention the hayledge, PF has been on grass for 6 mths so it might well have been the alfalfa.

Yes, I expect you're right. Will look into some probiotics for her today.

Alfalfa gives my gelding violent diarrhoea. He has to have probiotics if he is being fed any kind of alfalfa based chaff.

hi I used to have a horse that scoured the stable , and when I called the vet he said it was worms , I had wormed him but apparantly the eggs become amune to the wormers the vet fixed the problem and it didnt happen again , hope this helps
