I have a pony for sale which has been backed and ridden away but is still green. That's it. In today's market, that seems to put people off. After all, there are plenty of ponies out there so I can understand. But no one even comes to view and that is frustrating!

I don't ride any more (too old) but I can still do lots from the ground. I have her walking over a plastic sheet, being stroked all over with flappy plastic on the end of a long stick (without being tied!), working quite nicely to voice commands on the lunge. Is there anything else I can do? I can put all this on video which, hopefully, might encourage someone to come and look and even try. But what else?

Everyone who sees her likes her, but they are not the ones who need a new pony right now. She's wasted here. I try to tell the truth in my adverts which is probably the problem! She'd be ideal as a family pony where she can get regular attention. What more can I do?

(Hope this doesn't get pulled as sounding like another advert as it's not, so I won't post more. I genuinely want ideas).
 
I'd contact the local PC, see if there are any local jockeys wanting to ride.
Get her seen out and about and then she may even be sold through word of mouth.
 
When was she last ridden? And how much are you asking for her (pm me if you would rather)

And this, absolutely.
 
Depend on the age I think. If she's 3 I would turn her away and start again next spring. If she's 4 then I would contact your local pony club and see if there is a competent child that would take her to rallies and small shows or even camp over the summer. We did that with a cracking pony for a friend a few years back and sold the pony on at the end of the summer for £2k more than she was thinking at the beginning of the summer!
 
Depends on her size too, if she's small enough that most people able to bring her on will be too big that could be part of it. And even if she's 13.2+ there's more people looking for first pony types nowadays that height when years ago you'd get competent but not well off kids after green ponies. If I were you I would contact pc, to see if anyone's looking & to find a child/ young teen jockey to ride. Not just to bring her on, but to give her a small record & get her seen locally too.
 
She's a highland, nice mother-daughter share type. (I presume I'm thinking of the right one). I think PC is a good idea. What about the PC getagrip's daughter takes D to - that must be pretty local? Might she be convinced to take M at some point over summer?

I'd happily take her RCing if I were up there :p
 
If you can't get someone to ride her at a pc rally, ask the DC if you can take her down when a rally is on - for her to have a wander around and take in the experience, but also for her to be seen. That way she is in people's minds if anyone is looking for a pony, and you could also put an ad on their noticeboard too..
 
Just had a nosey at the website ;) and if shes the one I think she is then I'd try get her out to some pc and rc stuff, if you were closer she could come with us.

I know some one who might be looking for some thing like that depending on what happens to their current injured pony so I will point them in your direction.

Definitely a thought. Thanks for that. Yes, I'm sure you've got the right one! I think I'd rather sell cheap(ish) and let someone else do the work.

She is a nice mare and would be ideal for someone out there, if just to bring on and sell as a safe riding pony.
