What would make you sell your horse?

If someone offered me the right price, if our finances changed (tho would have to be v bad and would loan for an interim period). If my health wasn't good enough, can think of lots of reasons really though they are all fairly worst ever case scenarios.

Mind you I threaten them both with the free ads quite frequently!

I wouldn't sell George unless I was in dire straits, like I had no money or I was permanently incapacitated, although I would probably try to loan him - actually I can think of a few people on here who would have him!!

Me Too!!!!!

the "next big thing" is ALWAYS out there!!!

I don't advertise any of my selling horses at this time of year however I do have many horse-hay customers so I do have contact with people who may be looking to buy at any time of year. I have just sold one of our ones which we were planning to keep for a while; however the offer of 7K from a hay customer who fell in love with him, made the decision much easier.

Out of all of my many horses, there is really only 1 which would never ever be for sale and that is our little pony which we flew over here from England. She is the love of our life and we have spent a whopping sum of money bringing her here to remain with our family. If we were to lose everything then yes she would have to go, but she would never ever be sold; she would be given on loan to a friend of ours and we would still have access to her regardless of any untoward situation we might find ourselves in.

I have a few which I really have no intention of ever selling however a change in circumstances which gave us no sensible option, would mean they also would be sold. There is no way I would ever consider it being sensible to keep horses, any horses, if one can't afford them; whether that be in financial terms or time.

If someone offered me a huge sum of money for Maiden, AND a total, unbreakable guarantee that she'd never be badly treated in any way, then I'd sell. Neither of those things will happen, so in other words, never!
I'd do anything to be able to keep Maiden, even though she'll never again be the horse I bought. If it came down to it and I couldn't afford to keep her even in a field for a tiny amount of field rent (and insurance for vet's bills) then I'd have to sell. Otherwise she's mine forever.
My second horse will have to be, however hard I try not to think about it, more "disposable". If I could only afford to keep one horse it would have to be Maiden. I'm far too sentimental though and my horse is more of a friend than a horse

At this point in time, nothing would make me sell my horse.

I feel he has a lot more to give and we work extremely well together.

As long as I can afford to keep him financially he will be with us. If the occasion arose when I was no longer able to keep him and my parents could support him any more I woudl probably put him out on loan or share. Very much depends on situation.
