If you want to jump have a crack at working hunter but she "might" be a little light for that. I would also look at riding horse or possibly show hunter as well.

I agree maybe a bit light for a hunter - how big is she, and how much bone?

That being said if she would jump a nice round there is no reason not to try workers, she is lovely :)

She's 16.2 and not sure on bone she's not got a lot of bone. She's a good hunter and jumps really well over natural fences but I'm not set on jumping just want to do the class that would suit her best.

She's definitely too light for hunter classes, though working hunter is a bit different and you tend to get all different shapes and sizes in those classes so you could give it a shot. She's a lovely riding horse type, I think she would do well in those classes, with a nice coloured browband.

Is she thoroughbred?

Very pretty - definitely large riding horse type.

You could also do any of the riding club horse type classes you get at local shows

She'd look lovely side saddle. ..... :-)

So general agreement riding horse is the way to go. Thank you all for the compliments I think she's lovely to :) spacefaer she irish sport horse but is 3/4 TB and 1/4 draught. My next question would be tack I have a bates caprilli in Havana (the reddy bates Havana) and a dark brown synthetic Isabelle werth dressage saddle. I know a straight cut saddle is preferred to show off the shoulder but I'm guessing my synthetic dressage saddle will be frowned on??? Is it better to use the leather GP? Thanks for all your replies your help is much appreciated

Another one for riding horse, she looks a really nice type and should do very well I would imagine if her paces are as nice as she looks!

Yes don't use the dressage saddle. Start off the GP and see how you get on and then if you are going to do quite a bit of showing get more of a straight cut saddle. You can always have something like a very slight dressage cut which is then suitable for more general riding.

She does look very nice. What is she like being ridden by other people - is she used to that? At local shows generally the judge doesn't ride but once you move on up a bit they will do so ideally get her ridden by some others if she isn't generally. Good luck with her.

A lovely riding horse type.
Or if it's just local stuff she would do well in ridden horse and riding club horse.

I think she is too light for a hunter class, but working hunters tend to be all shapes and sizes so she would do well in those.

If it's local level a snaffle is fine, once you get up the levels to the more serious competitions horses tend to be ridden in double bridles.

Very nice horse, just my type

Thanks guys that's great help. Pigeon I'm glad to hear that I'm rubbish at conformation so nice to know she is correct. I'm quite looking forward to showing now it's not something I've ever really done
