Duct tape the shoe on and use a equiboot! works for me every time

Is there anyonw who could take the shoe off for you? You could then turn out until the farrier has been, shouldn't come to any harm.

i don't kno of anyone who could, she goes lame without a shoe too.................i've really got myself in the s**t here

This has worked for me in the past to keep poultice on so should protect her foot if she loses the shoe. Get an exercise matt/foam or something similar. Get the horse to stand on it and draw round the foot, cut it out and then use Gaffa or Duct tape to wrap around the sole and hoof wall as if you were bandaging around a poultice. Obviously don't get tape on the skin as it will make it sore.

Have you got any old feedbags? pergaps you could tape the shoe in place, then put the corner of a bag over the hoof and tape that in place too. Won't last over the weekend though.

well she just had them pulled off by a strong man at our yard, and is now so sore on hard ground her legs were shaking so she has a huge bed to stay on overnight and we are gonna fone round the farriers an see if anyone can help

lol thats sounds really brutal, he took off the clenches and the just basically feel off cause they were so loose, it was that or risk an injury to ma horse, he's super experienced wi feet too. turns out he also had those equi boot things but they didn't fit abby's massive feet

George Neilson from the hydro will come out for a fiver and a promise of a pint! It's worked for me in the past when in dire need and he is a registered farrier so breaking no laws!
