You finish sorting out your horse for the evening. Horse has been rugged in a fleece and a 220 gram chillcheeta rug. Is also stabled and NOT clipped. Horse has lots of hay and has not really dropped much weight. Horse seems happy and content. Another livery comes over and asks if its blowy in your stable you look at the straw hanging from a beam and say no as its not really moving at all. They then advise you to add a turnout onto your horse in case it gets windier- you put hand under rug and reply nah its not neccesary. You say your goodnights and leave. You return an hour later as you forgot your phone. only to find an extra rug has been put onto your horse. What would you do? You dont normally do your horse in the morning as you are on assissted DIY so would not normally have seen this- would you talk to the said livery/YM?

was it the livery or YO who did this?

I wouldnt be happy with another livery messing with my horses rug... I would speak to them about it and tell them to keep their thoughts and hands to themselves.

agghhhhhhh..... i'd be livid!

tell 'em to butt out and mind their own business!

it's one thing to step in if a horse is shivering to death in a blizzard or something but that was out of order!!!

Damn bloody cheek if you ask me. Do they think you are not capable of making your own decisions and do they think they know better than you? I would be in a rage if that was me, but only because I know what's best for my horse

I would be very cross if another livery did it who wasn't somebody who regularly handled my horse. What if the horse had kicked them while they were in the stable, where would you stand then?

I would probably speak to the said livery. Something like 'I noticed my horse had another rug on when I came back later. I just wondered if you had thought he was cold? I would rather he wasn't over - rugged as I'd rather he didn't get sweaty as he isn't clipped. Thanks everso for your concern though'
If you go straight to the YM, people can get a bit offended that you didn't say anything.
Good luck!

More like "mind your own sodding buisness, and DON'T touch my horse again".

had she put a turnout rug on over a fleece and a 200g rug?

What is the temperature where you are?
Has the horse been unwell or lost weight recently? Is said persons horse rugged up to the eyeballs?

I would be seriously pi--ed that someone had dared to second judge my opinion on my own horse!!Both barrels in the morning i am afraid!!!

I would go and find them and wrap them up in the rug and toss them over a cliff

no...just kidding

I would instruct whomever it was to never touch my horse again unless it is a lfe threatening emergency and then laugh at how silly they are to think a horse needs so many rugs.

I would LOVE to see what that person had to say to me when it is the polar tundra here and mine are OUT all night NAKED

Yes- horse ended up with 1 blue fleece, 1 220g gram stable rug and one 60gram lightweight turnout. Temperature at 7 degrees. There is fair wind but said horse was toasty upon leaving and munching on hay happily. Turnout was removed when phone collected.

you took the words out of my mouth

My Shire is fully clipped (apart from his leggs!) He has worn a MW turnout today (no neck, they don't make necks in his size) He has been stabled wearing a fleece sheet! He is always toasty warm in his fleece sheet!

The temperature will drop another 10 degrees before winter is out. I don't want to wreck his thermo immune system so I always take it easy with the rugs. As the weather gets colder he will be layerd up nicely.

Just thought I would tell you about that so you don't feel like a baddie!

I woudl be furious if anyone interfered with any of my horses.

What have they got on their horse??

Sounds like you saved your horse from roasting and sweating through the night!
I cant believe the cheek of some people

I would be very cross ! How dare they,You pay for livery But they should follow your orders ! They work for you !

I would put large notice on the door detailing what he is to wear, or lock away all extra rugs. This happened to me. he has a small clip but I only have a lightweight stable rug on. Someone different did his rug and added a fleece. I arrived quite early the next morning while it was still cold and he was a bit sweaty. When I said I would prefer him to have just one rug they said "but all the other horses have two". Yes but they are thin-skinned, eldery, or fully clipped!

How annoying!!! I would perhaps go and take some rugs off her horse and see how she likes it!!

Some people, eh?!

Was it your rug? If not, I would shred it and leave it in a pile where it can be clearly seen by interferring livery

I would be hopping mad. I have one stabled in light weight stable rud and the other with no rug, both are warm enough not clipped but its been snowing and wintry showers.
