OK, lets say you don't ride/have horses.
What would you do to keep yourself entertained instead?

I would:
(a) Have a life...
meaning that (b) I would have time to myself....
therefore (c) actually not have to rush to work in the mornings having spent the early hours of the morning feeding, turning out, and mucking out and be able to relax of an evening as not having to rush home from work to bring in, groom, ride, feed, muck out............
and last but not least (d) have decent hair, a good set of nails and friends that turn up to the pub in 'normal' clothes rather than wellies and jods.

Oh yeah, and I'd be able to afford to go on holiday at least twice a year....

I think i would cease to exist! ha ha
Prob go out more, drink more argue with the OH more-
The horses really are a great benefit

I think if I didn't have horses I would be in to water sports.

I fancy all things like Wind Surfing, Water Skiing, Sailing etc. I seem to like to do things that require some form of balance and movement.

I would quite quickly become bored of shopping. Despite huge fights with myself I am realising I don't do running for fun.

So yeah, the only thing that gives me a little buzz in my stomach is Water Sports. (I am hoping my Son prefers those kinds of things and then I can join in

I would prob do more rally driving- i started last year and loved it but its so expensive! I also love snowboardng so would do that more
I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie but nothing compares to my horse

Having had a 23 year gap before Stonks and Donkey - I had a cleaner house, I cooked more, we took exotic holidays scuba diving (I wont go that far away from her now) - would I go back to it? - well a cleaner house maybe but my Donkey is my world!!!!!!

PS Tried the nail thing - they still ping off in a day or two with me and it really hurts!!!!!!!!!!

I often think with things like long nails etc,,,when you get to the end of your life do you want to be remembered for getting out there and having lots of fun or for having beautifully manicured nails?

It would be nice to achieve self grooming perfection as well as your horse.

I have my nails done with the acrylic and they last really well. The lady who does them (luckily my best mate) gets a bit miffed at picking the crud out from my nail beds though!!! Still they are not as bad now as when I used to muck out everyday and pick the little bits up with my hands!!!

Before I got my girl I used to have a cleaner house and I looked a look cleaner!! now I am most comfortable in my jods and mucker boots! I havn't worn heels for ages

I think I'd spend most of my money shopping! I think I'd take up a sport like snowboarding because I've always wanted to try it! I'd start surfing again, I'd have nice hair and nails (I don't think my nails are looking too bad at the moment TBH!) and I would have so many pairs of shoes!!!!!
grin.gif

I'm sat here with a bad knee, bad hand (well, bad 2 fingers) and a throbing shoulder, I don't have many nice clothes, my nails are always dirty...........But I wouldn't have it any other way!

If I didn't have my horses I think I would do more diving. I'm a rescue diver at the moment and would like to get my divemaster. I would also like to dive more in the UK, I just don't get time as I'm always busy with horses

Also, if I didn't have horses I would have nice hands and lovely clean finger nails

I'd have an ocean going motorboat that would go round coasts - not across the atlantic - and goto places like eire, jersey, france, denmark under my own 'steam'

i would certainly snowboard...but if i were to do anything new - i think i'd start rowing...get those thunder thighs working!!!

I've stopped riding myself....just can't be bothered anymore. Still love horses but don't wish to ride.
I'm out walking. going to dog shows with a friend & taking loads of photo's everywhere I go (some of which I'm selling online...bonus..!!)
It was hard to stop feeling guilty about not riding, but my heart wasn't in it.

I used to waterski and play golf before I married and settled down with horses again, so would probably go back to this.

Saying that my hubby is a fanatical skier so might get dragged into that more and as he wont play golf with me, Id have to find another partner LOL

If I did not ride I would take up sailing and carry on getting better at swimming. As you can tell, I love being in/on the water....

have loads of money, lots more free time, be extremely bored, unfit and fat oh andd thoroughly miserable as well
grin.gif

I would probably have a social life! I'd definately have way more money! But I think I'd also get very fat and very unfit!

To be honest, I simply don't know what people who don't ride every day DO with themselves!! They must be very bored people!

I don't ride everyday! I have 3 rideable horses to choose from, but at the moment when it's pretty warm here, unless I'm out before 8am (can't during the week because of school) or after 8pm it's sheer hell here in Mosquito Central! Some days I just don't want to ride. Some days I don't have time to ride.

I can't say that I am ever bored, or have been in the last 8 months. I live on a small 50 acre hobby farm which is pretty run down, we are on a corner lot so have hundreds of metres of road side fencing to sort out, plus re-fence the rest of the place. The horse barn needs gutting, the woods need clearing, the wood shed needs filling for winter and the lawn needs mowing, everyday it seems like, the grass just doesn't stop growing! The horses need checking etc, etc, and I spend hours just watching them and walking in the woods with the dogs, then I actually have a family and a house to look after too.

Bored? Wish I had the time some days

What would I do if I didn't have horses? I have no idea.
Well, I wouldn't be living in the country, I would have to be living in a town for me not to have horses, and as I can't stand having neighbours I'd never live in a town again.

good question!

I would like to think that I would have a big social circle, go out lots, have really fashionable clothes, have manicures and pedicures every month, drive a brand new car, and be taken out to dinner by a new man every night!

In reality I think i would probably stay home all the time feeling depressed, worry about my weight loads because I wasn't getting any exercise, manically and obsessively clean the house every day, start drinking as soon as I got home from work and smoke a lot of ****.

(This is based upon my behaviour prior to getting a horse - horses really have changed my life! )

Very very true-only exercise I willingly and happily do is ride etc! I'm so lazy, I have to really force myself to go for a run.

I would have a life, be able to see more of my friends and OH and i'd have more energy to practice pole dancing a bit more regularly!!
smile.gif

id probably start dancing and acting - im aluvvie dont you know!

i really love outdoorsy things tho, but have no time or money for it at the moment. like like surfing and kayaking xxx
