What would you do ...... lame?

My mare has been lame since Sunday. I have had her on box rest since then.
If you trot her up, she looks fine. When ridden, she just puts in the odd short stride on the left rein. I believe it to be her near fore, there is no heat or swelling.

When we were coming from the indoor, there is a slope out (concrete). She slipped down there on the ice with both front feet, back feet stayed where they were, so she really stretched out iyswim. This happened last week sometime but I can't remember when. I had rideen her since and not noticed her lame.

She is due the physio this month. Do I get the physio or vet to see her first? I'm thinking she may have tweaked a muscle, hence the physio/vet dilemma.

i always start from the feet so farrier first then vet. it is cheaper if it is a foot problem to as most farrier will only charge a small fee is not waive it completely

I wouldn't get the vet yet as she probably isn't lame enough for a diagnosis without x-rays, scans etc.. i'd be inclined to give her a couple of weeks off in the field and then see. Alternatively i'd ask the farrier first as suggested above then go down the vet route.

If she's only been lame since sunday and isn't crippled I'd give her until next week anyway, and then re-assess, probably going for physio first, and ditto with the farrier, they'll usually only want a tenner for fuel

I always ask my farrier before anyone else. If it is a foot problem it's cheaper if they sort it out. My farrier was bought up with horses and breeds percharons (sp?) so knows alot about them and often has good FREE advice on any other problems.

If she's not in any obvious pain and its only minor, I'd wait few days and take it from there x

could be anythign really
muscular, tendon, ligiment as shes slipped.
i think i would get a vet in as a significant amount of time has passed and she needs a full assessment really.

If no improvement after a few days, and you have ruled out the foot - vet.
