Hi all,

My husband is hanging about this morning waiting for a towbar to be put on the car, and while he was waiting, starting speaking to a wee pony in a field nearby. It looks in decent enough health, not skinny, but he's sent me this picture of it's front feet;

What would you do? Would anything happen if I were to contact a local welfare group? I don't want anyone in trouble, but feel bad that this poor wee pony (who my husband says is super friendly and just adorign the attention he's giving him!) must be uncomfy.

There are other ponies in the field apparently (I think another three? Don't know what size it is) and there is grass further back, it's just he's over on the muddy part to get attention from my husband!

I don't like the look of the barbed wire fence or all the rubbish lying in the soil (looks like a can in the mud?). They apparently have a portacabin type thing for shelter.

All I've seen is these two pictures and the above regarding grazing/shelter is just what my husband told me over the phone.

That's disgraceful

I'd call the ILPH, too. Also as AmyMay spotted - the paddock is not much of a paddock - do they put hay out for the poor thing or is there a load of grass we can't see?

Absolutely no idea who the owner is and I really can't see how they wouldn't have noticed? And if they have and haven't done anything about it, surely they won't take kindly to me pointing it out to them?

It's about 20miles from where I live, husband was only just dropping in to the town to get the towbar fitted.

Basically, I'm being a bit of a wimp and don't want any aggro off the owner if they don't have the pony's best interests at heart, so I think I'll get in touch withh ILPH/WHW and see what they can do.

Have been in touch with ILPH/WHW, sent them an email including the photos and location of the field. They were very quick to reply and have agreed that the state of the front left foot is concerning.

They have said they will pass my concern on to the local field officer and they will have a look when they are next in the area (no idea how soon that will be) and can give me an update after they've visited.

Feel glad I got in touch now, hope the wee pony is ok and gets his feet looked at soon.

Thanks all for the replies.

the ILPH is good.they are quick to respond,much better than the RSPCA i think for horses.
cannot see the picture, but at least someone knows about it now and you have done all you can.hope the poor thing is sorted out asap
