Theres a local show coming up in about a months time, I'm only going to do some show jumping and maybe a couple of clear rounds but as it is the first show with my horse I would like her to look smart and plaited but I have a problem as half of her mane is a mohican!

So how would you go about making this look presentable? Would i be better not plaiting and just trying to get it to lay flat? aaahh! combo rugs saved my life all winter but now I'm regreting it haha!

ps sorry if the photo is huge I tried resizing it on photobucket but I don't think it worked

Hmmm, I'd be tempted to get some horse hair extensions (they clip in to the existing mane) back comb what's there clip and hair spray then cut to the right length and plait

Start plaiting it over now to lay it over and leave it in, don't put a rug on it just incase if rubs it out even more! You would be surprised what you can plait :-) pull the top half to tidy it up.

Her mane looks the same as my eventers, he has been plaited so far with the short bits left but it is now just long enough to plait properly for this weekend.

Your mare would look better if you shorten the rest of her mane, for jumping it is fine to leave it unplaited but if you want to plait you will easily be able to do so in a few weeks, they will be small but doable:)
