Since moving to a new area - I've been investigating the local riding possibilities, and now I'm stuck about which one to carry on with.
The options are:
1) Riding school with rather uninspiring horse - but fantastic instructor and really getting to grips with my position and how I ride. This is the most expensive option.
2) Big riding school - not very personal service - in fact, felt like I was paying to school their horse as wasn't really 'taught' - but adored the very quirky horse (however, surprised they put me on it with only my word that I was an experienced rider). This is closest to home.
3) Riding a selection of horses for sale. No tuition - mainly happy hacker types that are quite surprised when I ask them to work properly. This is the cheapest, but furthest away.

I don't have unlimited time and money (saving for my own horse), so can't consistently do all of these. Thinking about trying to alternate but not sure if that would make it all a bit half-hearted. Or do I keep looking at other options...?

"Riding a selection of horses for sale"??? Do you mean riding for a dealer, or calling people who are selling their horses and stating 'No time wasters'???

I can't help you, not being anywhere near London, but I hope you find a reasonable solution...

Could you have a trainer come out to help you continue to improve, while riding the dealers horses? It would work in both your favours...You wouldn't need training all the time, of course, and riding lots of different horses will give you an excellent grounding for buying your own (perhaps the dealer could help you find a good one, and repay your efforts!)...
Just an idea of course!...

What about a private share. If you're an experienced rider, it should be pretty easy to find a decent share depending on how far you can travel. Might even cost less that the price of a lesson each week.

Thanks for the ideas. I have had a share horse before I moved here - but haven't seen anything suitable advertised around here yet.
