bit of history there is a girl on the yard who is deperate to go the Burghley spounsored (SP!!) ride but she is scared of her horse (she wont say but you can tell she shakes when she get on it) she has an 19 yr old x polo pony who is fab just bubbles along with her. i can count how many times she has ridden her on one hand this year so the horse is not fit at all. Anyway we went on a hack last night we got to a canter streach and she wanted to canter and she fell off and winded herself. i got off an walked back with her and she got back on in the school and rode for 5 mins. Now she wants to go to the ride with another girl who has a 4 year old and the other girl is worried that she is going to end up baby sitting her and not having fun, she wants to tell her she can not go but i think that would really upset her what would you do????

Tell her she is not going with you and get the person with the 4 year old to say the same.

It's an expensive day out - and not a ride for someone that is going to fall off every two mins.....

Sometimes you ahve to be cruel to be kind.

If she can't canter without falling off then she shouldn't be going. Tell her that you want your horses to go at their own pace

The girl on the four year old should choose someone else to go with saying she's on a young horse and wants to take a lead from an experienced combination of horse and rider. Maybe also try to help her progress a bit more at home before doing a fun ride and leaping head first into disaster.
