Ok.. so we were out on a ride today - back along our normal... Middle daugher on her ned.. at front me on my ned in middle and eldest daugher on her ned at rear... this guy in red 4 x 4 pick up overtook eldest daughter and pulled alongside me.. I think he is turning into
yard on right but no he carries on coming past me which is a single lane... I shout to middle daughter to be careful and I look at the truck and its so close it catches my stirrup so I kick his truck...with my foot in the stirrup and then he seems to notice me and after a mouthful of obscenities (I have heard it all before... lol) he carries on... so I give it loads of verbal back... and he actually slows down so we are all in front of him.... I just ignored him after this... but my question is shall I report him because if I had been riding a youngster he could have seriously have caused a very very bad accident.. he was after all just inches from me and my horse and was driving in a dangerous manner...

What do you think?? also will the police actually do anything????

I would have done what you did, LOL at kicking his car

have no idea how much interest you would get from reporting it, but suppose it would be a good idea in case he does it to some one else and they report it if you see what I mean!
It dose amaze me how daft drivers are sometimes.... I was riding out the other day nannying a horse that is on walk work after box rest, hes being very good but still a little up tight. Had a lorry coming towards us which was ace and came by at a good speed, just as he was next to us as car squeezed through the gap between us and the lorry, considering we were side by side this was no mean feat...the funny thing was she had a child on bord thingy in the back of it !!!
I really do wonder what they are thinking sometimes, do they not realize they put, our, our horses and their life's at risk?!?!

I would report him, though to be fair I'm not sure anything would actually happen. Some drivers really are unbeliveable though. I used to carry a schooling whip purely to smack cars if they got too close, a quick thump as they went past might have shocked them into being more careful in future.

Yes got his number plate... Its a normal thing now when we have any incident that we record all the details on our mobile phone...like the date, time and location but its just.... what if anything will happen if we report it??? it seems to be a normal incident now with car drivers... its so so sad....

Another idea which we have been discussing is actually using a kind of webcam/video camera on your riding hat to actually film what happens when we ride out every day as to be honest people just dont understand what us horseriders have to endure when we ride out.....

I would report him, the police might just give him a talking too but may make him see sense. Although it wouldn't stop me reporting him, just be wary if you do see him again, the sort of people that don't have a clue about horses/ dangerous driving/ etc aren't always the nicest of people!
Even if the police don't do anything this time, they may keep an eye out for him in the future as he will have been brought to their attention, so he may get what he deserves at a later date.

i would definetly report him, as other have said carry a whip and give their cars a clatter with it, in my experience its been succesful
my mam and dad rode out yesterday they were nearly back at the yard, walking single file on a 30 mph road and going around a blind bend, a lady came flying around the corner had to swerve to the other side of the road to miss the horses and just missed ones back legs by literally inches, lucky for her nothing was coming the other way or she would have been dead, the best part she had a sticker on her car saying slow down for horses!! unfortunately they didnt get her number plate as they were that shocked, hopefully she will have learnt her lesson and luckily enough this time no one was injured

Just heard back from the police - I have to go into my nearest station and fill out a form for them to deal with it.... watch this space....
