Basically Toto scratched his side on a nail when he spooked and barged through a gateway out hacking last Thursday. Initially it was about 1 inch and a half long but not deep at all, just scratched the surface. We kept it clean and used antibacterial cream, and then let it dry out. He had 3 days off then rode him in the evening on Sunday, just on a nice hack. He's hacked in walk until today when I schooled him in walk and then he had a crazy 10 minutes loose-schooling, which turned into gallop, bronking and squealing! We've just stuck to walk puerley because the cut is right when your foot would go if it went back a bit too far. The problem is, is that we were booked in to do our first dressage on Saturday
And now it's scabbed over, I'm worried about knocking the scab off. He doesn't seem to be in pain from it. Here it is, with my thumb in the picture for comparison:
Not great pics, had flash on!
In a bit of a dilemma, would you dressage or not?
