Farmers family down the road from me got a pony last year for their daughters and sons to share.
The pony is ridden in a slotted kimberwick, rein on bottom slot. The oldest daughter (about 12) is very nervous she rides amost lying up the ponys neck, holding on to the ponys mouth for dear life. Poor pony can't have a mouth left. Mother then drags the pony about on lead rein. Clipped straight to the bit.
Pony lives alone at the farm, and looks unhappy, but well in its self.
Pony naps when they try to take it home.
I was told by a good horse friend in the village, that the pony escaped from its field, galloped up their 2 mile drive, through the village, crossing a busy road and stopped out side my friends yard. Some passers by shut the pony in my friends yard and rang her at work. She came back to find the it was the farmers pony and rang them to collect. They didn't no it was out (it had been gone an hour!). When they collected it, friend said, casually if you want any help let us know. To which farm mother replied, I had ponies as a child I know what I'm doing!

Clearly pony is not happy at the farm being alone and not happy being dragged about.
But do I say anything? I was thinking of offering to take daughter and pony out on hacks with Hattie, as I can lead pony from her and then once in with them, start offering to help out if they need it, like lessons for the kids and I have lots of pony stuff (like snaffles!) they could have. Do you think this a good idea or will they just tell me what they told my friend?
