Hello, im going competing saturday as iv been good ;)
but i was just wondering shall i jump 2moro as i havent jumped with tack for 2 weeks [did bareback] or shall i just leave it?
becuase it is the day before the show?
planning of doing grids?

Oh this is going to sound like a real downer but if she's still overexcited and bombing about after her enforced rest I'd jump her tomorrow and not go to the show. However, that's because I'm old enough to be your granny (nearly)! If I were your age I'd probably jump her tomorrow and go to the show as well.
 
Is there no way you could go out and do something other than jumping, as you havn't been jumping her that often, and as she has arthiritis it may make her stiff...
But maybe just do some nice flatwork, and then pop some x-poles and a couple of uprights just to get her thinking - she wont hve forgotten what jumping is all about...

Also, welcome back, I may have missed something, but im fairly sure you said you were deleting your account :-)
 
Yes, I would ride her over a few trotting poles leading up to a couple of small x poles and as soon as she has done well - stop! even if its the first "lap"! Always end on a good note.

LOL - I am rubbish at that as well!! Its different for each "type" of horse/pony you have and I don't know what your horse is like!

I am short in the leg and tend to stride out three strides between poles - which gives you one stride between jumps which helps with cantering poles - trotting poles are obviously closer - but your RI shoud know you and your horse and place them out correctly :)
 
Welcome back :) I would do some little grids and some trotting poles aswell then take her to the show, I woud try 3 steos and if she struggles at this change it to her length and remember it so write it down, from seeing videos I think 3 steps may be ok.

Have you thought about maybe giving her instant calmer if she is a bit over excited? We always bring some instant magic to shows with us incase Koko is being a nutter one day and then its always there if we need it.

If i was you i would jump her, but not too much, and not too big, just a little course to get her back into it and so shes not overly excited at the show.
