My two (welsh cob [Holly] and irish coloured horse [Blue] - both quite hairy) at both currently clipped out with blanket clips although these are growing out at an alarming rate and i want to do one more clip for them in the next couple of weeks. BUT do i re-do the blanket clips (bearing in mind i'm awful at getting even straight lines) or just take the whole lot off bar legs and half the face?

Holly is verging on the fat side at the moment and Blue is probably about right.... will try to get some pictures on Sunday.

i suppose how much hair to take off depends on how much they are doing and how cold they get. Im about to do my horses second clip of the winter ive managed to hold off for ages since they all are wearing three rugs(its a pain putting them on and off!!) but ive only given the competition horses and hunters a full clip the ponies and the young horses all got trace clips because this winter has been way too cold!!if the horses are being ridden alot and you find they are getting very sweaty it would probably be better to take all the hair off and use extra rugs. also you should consider doing them in the near future before the spring coat starts to come through otherwise they can grow back in a weird patchy way!! though saying that its so cold out at the moment i think it will be awhile before we need to worry about spring coats coming through!

it depends how much work they are doing tbh. If you work them daily then id take the whole lot off (bar legs and half head), if only a couple of times a week id stick to a blanket clip.

Hmm well apart from last week where you took your life in your hands venturing out anywhere in that wind.... they tend to get worked Holly Sun-Thurs so 5 days a week and Blue Sun-Fri so 6 days a week. Am very tempted to take the whole lot off as i can't stand moulting hair everywhere!!
