Hi Guys

What would you do if you loved everything about the yard that you were at, but didnt agree with how it is run, would you just bite your tongue and just get on with things or find somewhere else even though you knew your horse was happy there and you actually loved the yard itself?????

Depends very much on what the problems are. My last yard was great, but a little slack about certain things. It was DIY so I tried to just ingnore the issues and get on with my own thing. I only moved becuase we moved house.

I did look at other yards in the area but none were anythign like the one I was at for facilities, so I stayed and bit my tongue.

However, i have heard recently that things have deteriorated a bit, with new liveries who are VERY novice, with inappropriate horses, which get loose and charge about and all sorts of other issues that would be hard to ignore!

It would very much depend on what sort of thing you are talking about.

Is it that people don't clean up after themselves - this is my bug bear but I keep my area spotless and kind of ostrich others, or are we talking something more serious?

If the horses were happy and safe I would (and have) take a certain amount of pain myself. Obviously there's a point at which you have to give up and find somewhere else, but I reckon it's the horses that have to live there not me.

However, this horse lark is supposed to be FUN. If you're being robbed of that maybe you should take action.

Rather general answer to a rather general question!

Its kinda on rule for one, one rule for another. I dont particularly like the way they look after their horses but thats personal opinion. If you speak up about something then you 'have an attitude problem'. Just get a bit exhausted by it all sometimes, but love the actual yard so much!

Depends on the issues and if those issues are causing you to not enjoy your horses. If they are making you unhappy and not enjoy your gee gee's I'd say move, they'll settle elsewhere, they cost too much to not enjoy.
