I've Been on my yard for 7years. Longer than the girls that work there minus one. There's a new little livery pony whose moved on, owned by a "pony mum" so obviously on full livery. But my two ladies are on DIY so we have our own field but we got recently moved to a field closer to the yard and with less grass so my cushings mare can go out for longer and the 26 year old mare wont struggle on the long path when it gets colder. So this seemed , the new little livery pony is now turned out with my two in our new field. The staff are always asking me to turn it out and bring it in. Which is abit of a pain since it's quite an annoying thing and my two come up together so it means an extra trip to get this one in before. However, I don't really mind. Which seems weird to others since it's not my pony. What would you do in this situation? I'm a very laid back person so that might be why I don't mind haha.

If you are happy to keep bringing the pony in then fine. I personally wouldn't be happy to be expected to bring in a pony who is on full livery as well as my own horses. The staff should come out with you to bring said pony in at the same time as you get yours so that the pony isn't left on his or her own. Re turning out I would turn my two out and leave the staff to turn the pony out.

Nice work if you can get it, charging full livery and then getting your DIY'ers to do a chunk of the work!

Helping now and again is one thing but being expected to do this daily is taking the pee a bit I think.

I agree with you there, and if I was on any other yard I wouldn't do it, no way. I get on with the staff really well and YO has know me since a young kid so I'm pretty chilled with them. I also know if I can't ever get down for a one off, the staff turn my two out free of charge which is good.
But again if I didn't like the place so much/ get on with them I would probes tell them to do it themselves.

Tell them you're in a rush and haven't got time to bring it in?
Or pretend that it's being difficult and you can't handle it?
Or you could tell it's owner they owe YOU money for bringing it in, not the yard!

Good will is worth a lot. If it didnt overly affect me, for example mean I was rushing around and it was not every day I wouldnt mind. If they were asking me everyday I would think they are taking the pee

I agree that good will is worth a lot.

But presumably you aren't being paid to do this service, and the YO is....

Tbh, I don't see that as a problem since I'm only chucking it out for a day. Staff still doing all the other full livery jobs so it's just one set price for FL. Pony mum wouldn't know either way I bet, lady probably doesn't even know who works there haha.

I would be fine bringing in so pony isn't out on own if it wasn't a real pain to make two trips but the staff should turn the pony out.

Yeah I'd never leave anything out on it's own despite in the past other DiYs have left mine out on her own. Thank god she could care less but I have had my fair share of words with people.
