What would you do??

Pony is not mine, so just asking for opinions. A friends pony was in the field last week, my friend and his daughter hacked out the other two, and pony decided she wanted to go too, so jumped a huge ditch to follow them, (shes 12.2hh). Well, she's now lame, is slightly laminitic, but I think it's more to do with jumping the huge ditch onto the road. If it was your pony, would you get the vet straight away, or just stand in the pony and bute it for a week or two. I know what i'd do, but some people just dont take advice well.
 
I think it depends how bad pony is. If massively lame then vet, if just a little off then a would hose, bute, bandage and give it 2 days and see if improves.
 
Depends on exactly how experienced they are at diagnosing the cause of lameness & treating it. And it could well be stress induced laminitis if it was that bothered about being left behind. Again, depends how experienced they are at dealing with laminitis.
 
Thanks, Doseymare, (love the name, by the way), It'll be two weeks tomorrow, she's actually in my yard since monday, as my friend was stuck for a stable. I think it's in her shoulder. farrier failed to shoe her last week, as she couldnt put weight on her lame leg. Believe me, I dont run to the vet too often, but I think it might be a good idea. I have suggested it, but unless I get vet at my expence, what do you do???
 
If my mare came in slightly lamintic I would inform the vets and pick up some danilon/sedalin as she had an acute bout before so I know what I'm dealing with/what signs to watch for. But if there wasn't any improvement in 3/4 days I would be calling a vet out
 
If it was my pony, bearing in mind it jumped onto a road over a huge ditch, I'd be getting the vet out. It could be absolutely anything from a simple strain to stress or concussion induced laminitis or even a small chip or fracture. The pony really needs to see a vet for a proper examination, diagnosis and treatment. In these circumstances, I would only give bute on a vet's advice after they have seen the pony. Bute will mask the pain of what could potentially be more than just a simple strain or bruising. :)

Thanks, Montyforever, same as, how do you kind of forcefully tell someone what they should be doing. aghhhhhh, love this guy and his family so much, dont want to fall out with him, but pony's welfare has to come first, and as he wants my son to ride said pony when she's ok, I think I might have some say. treading on eggshells. xxx
by the way presume monty is horse name. my childrens dad's wife has a horse called monty, he's a hot headed beauty. you'd buy him for his looks, never mind the hot headedness.
 
guys, i'm geting the vet, dont care if i have to pay for it, i'll have it forever on my consience if i dont, I have no money, but direct debits are great, i'll just add it to the tally i already have. thanks. xxx
 
From what you said, it has already been lame for 2 weeks. I would defiantly get the vet now if it is still lame. Would not leave it a day longer, pony is defiantly in pain from something.
