What would you do?

This is a new feeling for me but this morning when I was feeding round I suddenly thought I need to sell one of my horses and to be honest it has unsettled me.

I just feel I've not got time to do any of them justice. I work full time and am only able to ride one or two a day.
I have a collection of six but kinda have a good reason to keep every one of them, I think.
What would you do? Should I sell one and if so, which one?

Lucy2 6yr 16.2hh TB mare, Raced, sensible smart horse bought to sell 2 years ago. Not just your average TB. Very well bred, good potential. Could put in foal to ID Sport horse and breed one for the future? recently back in work after 9 months off due to injury (not tendon)
Rosie 7yr 15.2hh TB x Mare, my first home bred. Done an Intro as 5 year old (with a friend). Not done a lot since. Though she won each of a few dressage comps I did take her to. Has to live in Egg bars due to some conformation faults so breeding not an option either. She is very special to me.
Kate 5 yrs 16.3hh TB x Mare, also homebred out of same mare as above. Mare very sadly no longer with us. Late to mature so done very little, but a nice type and temprement. I kinda consider this horse as my replacement for Eric, though time will tell
Eric 14yrs 16.3hh TB X ID Gelding. We know each other inside out and make a pretty good team. Done a lot with him the last 6 years and really dont think I could part with him. Suffering from Low Ring Bone so our riding time may be cut short.
Dan Given to me 2 years ago on the proviso I didn't sell him so not an option even if I wanted to, which I dont.
Lucy 7yrs 16.1hh ID x Warmblood. Originally bought as a weanling as a young companion for Rosie. Currently in foal (which will be for sale). When she's in a co-operative mood she is fab, when she's not . . . . well, thats another story. Intending to bring her back into work after weaning her foal.

I have my own place so this is not a financial issue really, Its just I would like to do them justice. I am very tired at the moment though as I've been awake every hour through the night for the past week keeping an eye on Lucy, who is a week past her due date so I dont know if this feeling is just because I'm tired.
They are all lovely people to have around and it would break my heart to sell any. What would you do?

I couldn't sell, I get far too attached to my horses to sell them so tend to just accumulate! Have you considered part loaning or loaning them out rather than selling? Sorry not much help!

I'm not sure I'd be very good at sharing. I did try it years ago and got irritated when the other person didn't arrive till 9pm to ride and it was way past Josie's bed time. I've never wanted to sell any before but just had the thought that it might be fairer for them?

I think I would sell Lucy2 and Rosie, they sound the ones you are least tied to and you owe them nothing. I would rather have 2max to ride a day and put all my time in to them

Well, if you bought Lucy2 to sell on, then that's what you should do!

I agree with this and i would also consider selling Lucy 1 once she has had the foal and its weaned.

But at the end of the day horses are quite happy munching in a field and just being pampered every now and then. They dont know what they are missing out on so i am sure they aren't too bothered.

I agree with what Kelly says. But if I had to choose who to keep it would be Eric and Kate, it's too hard a choice deciding who to sell. Ever thought about sending them out on full loan if having a sharer would be too hard for you to cope with?

Not much help again but i'd keep. If it's not for financial reasons at least keep for the summer and then see how you feel. Loan might be better though not so final. You sound like me, we get too attached but better than some horses who get passed around!!! Good luck!!!

I would sell Lucy2 or Rosie

but easier for me to say as i have no attachment to them!

Good luck in what ever you decide

or as others have said... how about getting a sharer to help out with them all! could be a great opportunity for someone to get experience with a variety of horses
Thats what i did when i first started loaning. I was loaning a 14.2 cob who was in foal then moved to her 16.hh TB, and took out her 14.hh oldie fell who loved going out for hacks, and occasionaly riding one of her stallions.

cant you just keep hold of them for the summer? if your feeling tired and a bit stressed then you will probably feel different soon.

TBH your horses probably dont mind! as long as they have food and company and a fuss sometimes i`m sure they dont mind
