This is a new feeling for me but this morning when I was feeding round I suddenly thought I need to sell one of my horses and to be honest it has unsettled me.
I just feel I've not got time to do any of them justice. I work full time and am only able to ride one or two a day.
I have a collection of six but kinda have a good reason to keep every one of them, I think.
What would you do? Should I sell one and if so, which one?
Lucy2 6yr 16.2hh TB mare, Raced, sensible smart horse bought to sell 2 years ago. Not just your average TB. Very well bred, good potential. Could put in foal to ID Sport horse and breed one for the future? recently back in work after 9 months off due to injury (not tendon)
Rosie 7yr 15.2hh TB x Mare, my first home bred. Done an Intro as 5 year old (with a friend). Not done a lot since. Though she won each of a few dressage comps I did take her to. Has to live in Egg bars due to some conformation faults so breeding not an option either. She is very special to me.
Kate 5 yrs 16.3hh TB x Mare, also homebred out of same mare as above. Mare very sadly no longer with us. Late to mature so done very little, but a nice type and temprement. I kinda consider this horse as my replacement for Eric, though time will tell
Eric 14yrs 16.3hh TB X ID Gelding. We know each other inside out and make a pretty good team. Done a lot with him the last 6 years and really dont think I could part with him. Suffering from Low Ring Bone so our riding time may be cut short.
Dan Given to me 2 years ago on the proviso I didn't sell him so not an option even if I wanted to, which I dont.
Lucy 7yrs 16.1hh ID x Warmblood. Originally bought as a weanling as a young companion for Rosie. Currently in foal (which will be for sale). When she's in a co-operative mood she is fab, when she's not . . . . well, thats another story. Intending to bring her back into work after weaning her foal.
I have my own place so this is not a financial issue really, Its just I would like to do them justice. I am very tired at the moment though as I've been awake every hour through the night for the past week keeping an eye on Lucy, who is a week past her due date so I dont know if this feeling is just because I'm tired.
They are all lovely people to have around and it would break my heart to sell any. What would you do?
