Hi all,any advice appreciated...
I moved my mare to a new yard yesterday.at her old yard she was turned out with another mare and a gelding..anyway one day in the sand paddock my mare got into a fight with the other mare(think they were both in season)and the result was a nasty gash in the other mares leg
Since then I have kept her on her own in the field...a couple of months went and the yard owner bought a little gelding, she put him in the field with my mare and they got on really well.
The new yard has 2 fields, one for horses that come in at night and one for horses that stay out 24 hours in summer...I wanted to put her out in the 24 hour field but it is a mixed herd and as she is quite a dominant mare I am worried that she will end up in a fight again.
The yard owner said I can fence off a section with electric fencing if I wanted to but I cannot afford all that kit right now and I hate it that I feel I have to keep her separated from the others.
What do you suggest I do?
